I got the calipers from napa. I suggest going that route and keep the receipt. You’ll be able to return them if they don’t fit.

 

Thats exactly the route I was planning on going.

So, not long travel related.. but look what just pulled up at our offroad shop.

 

Whose Tundy?

 

Customer. I didnt really get a chance to look at it. Looks like solo xlt kit with 2.5x10 coil over and bypass. He brought it in for wheel bearings to be replaced on the dana44.

 

Someone is selling a solo 3.5 kit for the taco for 3500$
And my buddy is telling me I should grab it instead of a new TC kit to replace my current kit

Any thoughts?
Any thoughts on solo kits?
Anything to look for when buying used Lt kits?

Running a +2 TC kit
Wanted to go to a 3.5 kit originally but was afraid it would be too big (rookie mistake)
Now I am dropping a Currie 9" rear and short course 4 link on the truck so I wanted to get the 3.5 kit to keep up with the now beefed up rear

 

Solo makes awesome stuff. Total Chaos does too so if it’s a deal, grab it.

 

That's exactly the kind of used kit you want to buy - one on a daily driver - it looked brand new, just like mine when I sold it after a few months of owning one. Solo makes good stuff.

 

Doing a short course 4 link is the same as buying a + 2 kit. There’s no real benefit and you’ll wish you mounted your shocks of the links later. More travel, works better, don’t be silly

 

Finally got some fenders on my truck. Had almost succumbed to buying a set new and paying 200 dollars for freight to Texas when a friend texted me and sold me these (which are brand new) for less than the cost of the fenders not counting shipping! They are not quite big enough but they are +6 which is the biggest I could find. Getting a new tube bumper soon hopefully

Also, the silver truck next to mine is not the one that the fender were originally purchased for lol @reasonselzzz

 

Wow man you must be pretty wide to exceed the 6 inch fenders. I assume you are still running spacers up front?

 

No - I think it's the spindles that make him wider than the usual 3.5"

 

Interesting, I didn’t think the spindles made the width wider.

He is asking 3500 obo, i'd meet up and offer 3k if it all checks out. He's even offering to re-powdercoat it so why not take advantage of that? It's the basic 3.5 kit not the XLT kit which is 4.5 over, offers full fabbed spindle and whatnot but the TC spindle gussets would work just fine. That's what im running and have not had any issues.

 

I see a 2nd gen w/ the 3.5 and fabbed spindles, but not that first gen w/ the xlt rn

 

had to have sold it or removed add. I saw one very similar if not that one FS when i was searching for my new rig a month ago.
