Where did you get the 12" ones I have only seen them in the ~9"

 

They are 10s, no clue why I typed 12......trying to watch Street outlaws at the same time

 

Got ya yeah I looked at them and they wouldn't of really worked for my needs.

Haha I was going to say, you’re going to be disappointed if you try and run those in the stock location.

 

Yeah but those don't have the proper end to hook up into the tacoma factory location good to know though for a shock relocation at some point.

 

so my day started off easy, did a furnace cleaning in the morning then just hung around the office with my boss all day until about 3. started heading home when I got a call. had to go check out this furnace. I know the address, I know the furnace because its a problem furnace. has been since day one. spent 3 hours cleaning it and got it back up and running. its an oil fired furnace and when those things don't run clean, they soot up and this one in particular especially, and it is NOT fun to clean lol but on a positive note, I do think I finally figured out what the issue is, shity part is that it wont be easy to fix. we have to re do the venting but where we vented it was the only option since its an old stone farmhouse with a rap around deck. but will figure out the details on a later date. just got home and I am certainly happy to finally relax haha hopefully no service calls come in cuz I am on call this weekend.

 

It's so funny the different ways and types of heating like down here in the south you will hardly ever at all see a oil fired furnace or for that matter a furnace the way ya'll do them up N and in the great white N of canada.

We run either a natural gas/propane system or just heat pumps. Our natural gas furnaces are not anything like the ones like my sis and bil have in NJ.

honestly most is all Natural Gas or Propane, southern Ontario especially. the more north you go the more oil you will see but people are starting to veer more towards propane in the rural parts due to insurance companies forcing peoples hands. but we still have quite a few oil customers. I am glad I got my oil ticket while I did because now you will be hard pressed to find a school that teaches it. its a dying breed. all the kids coming into the trade do not want to work on oil because they say its dirty lol if the furnace is installed and set up properly, there shouldn't be any issues. heat pumps are around but most people don't bother because they temperature, the only heat pumps worth having up here are the ones with inverter technology and those babies are expensive and people don't bother, the normal heat pump systems use a decent amount on electricity to run the compressor, its like running your A/C all year round. here in Ontario hydro is expensive af so its cheaper to just run the furnace. with our cold temperatures the heat pump would spend half the time in defrost mode anyways haha they are really only good until like -10*C or so. now Geothermal is pretty sweet and would be more beneficial in our climates but it is also expensive af to get installed and most people don't feel like spending 10k on a entry level system and I don't blame them hahaha I personally wouldn't put it in my house, but I also don't specialize in it and I am not well educated on the systems. I know the fundamental basics of how it works but no in depth knowledge. same thing with heat pumps really, I know the basics, our customers aren't interested in them so I haven't had any reason to educate myself further on those systems. I do know there are some really good ones out there but they are also major bucks hahaha far and few between actually want to spend good money for the best system. most just want good for decent price. as long as they are kept warm and aren't spending a fortune in heating costs.

 

Yeah. We have oil systems here but yoully only really see them in auto shops burning used oil. I had to learn how to fix ours bc those used oil furnaces are temperamental af and dirty as hell. They are not quite up to snuff just yet I think it was a rush to the market thing and fix the bugs later deal.

I have a heat pump, and baseboard electric heaters. As soon as temp hit -10 I have to shut off my heat pump as Erik said, then I turn on the baseboard heater, and my electricity bill jumps, its a real bummer! House is not design for a furnace and venting duct so I have to deal with it. The last 2 weeks have been warmer than usual so I turned on my heat pump and saved a few pennies! Electricity is cheaper in Quebec than in Ontario so it is alright, but I would like to have a wood stove for those -20*C nights!

 

yeah those aren't even legal here hahaha but I know a guy who has one in his garage. guy I work with services it, they are really neet systems, they have pre heater for the oil to make it more viscous before pressurizing it thru the nozzle for atomization. not suppose to burn gear oil tho if I am not mistaken just used engine oil. buddy here with one was dumb and just put what ever in there and clogged everything up, it did not sounds like fun trying to fix it hahaha

I'm not quite the South - Northern VA - but we have a natural gas furnace and water heater. The bill sucks during the cold months!

 

Wood stove is great to have as long as it's not your only source! Chopping, cutting and seasoning wood got to be a real
Pain in the ass. At first I thought I would enjoy being a lumberjack but that got old real quick.
