Do they make a larger fuel tank for the Taco's?

I drive mine all over for work and my company covers gas so I am not worried about mileage and the added fill up expense.

Company in Australia does, but getting it shipped is $$$$$. There is a thread on it.

Do you need to know, or care?
Taco lean is bad enough, couldn't imagine putting that many pounds on without some type of upgrade to the leaf springs.

Not to mention eating into the already paltry payload.

I just stick a gas can in the back if I need more range.

It would be like 150-200 pounds.

Do you not know that’s 20% of payload? That’s a big chunk.

Yes but for me I'll take the trade off. I don't haul much in this truck. If I wanted a toy hauler I would have went full-size.

It's a pretty heavy aluminium tank plus the 13 extra gallons of fuel I can't remember but I think the tank weighs quite a bit more than the stock tank

The one Henryp linked too is too rich for my blood. It isn't a necessity for me it was more convenience.

I'm fortunate enough to be in a situation where MPG doesn't matter because I don't have to bear that expense.

How many people are hauling the max payload on a daily basis with their Tacoma’s? 1 in 10,000 MAYBE (guesstimate of course)

Coincidentally, a Ford F-150 with the larger tank has a range of 700+ miles on the highway. I won’t lie, I’d definitely like that in the Tacoma if it didn’t affect the payload that much.

Who said anything about hauling max payload daily? But those instances you need it, now you’ve got to deal with the added pounds.

If you need the extended range, I'd assume there would be a decent amount of highway driving in that.

I don't think extra payload matters THAT much once you are at speed, so since it's mostly at speed driving I don't think weight should be an issue. When driving around town, fill it to half???

I just wish someone would do a plastic molded one and then I can get a MUCH lighter skid to protect it. I'm not opposed to having Jerry cans in the box but I have a short box as it is and can't always afford that space. Not to mention the theft component.

What do you think the risk of just a bunch of 2L bottles of gas strapped to the roof rails? I mean... I haven't flipped the truck yet?

    no problem
    it worked for Mad Max.

Wavian gas can with a cable lock in the bed might be better.

I feel like cable locks are big bright flags to criminals. I'm not opposed to a bracket with a swivel latch, but I really want hidden storage. Like a super super slim slip tank would be cool.
