With head hung low...we couldn't press the new LBJ's (not the President) in. The press had too much frame flex and allowed the little bastid to kick off angle just enough not to go. It's a serious interference fit so alignment is critical. I had the LBJ's frozen and preheated the LCA's and still no luck. So pissed. I'll get them pressed in that shop, damnit.

@BBtacosurfer and I had the SAME issue. Had to go to a shop.

The ball joints in my truck are aftermarket, somehow the guy before me was able to do it “easily” haha

I did Diablo Drop. A long time ago. Armor wasn't a thing back then, just a couple buddies with one who hooked a recovery strap around rear bumpers so we didn't catapult down the hill. I was young, and petrified. Good times!

I had Jason do my lbj’s a couple of years ago....had to beat them for ever with a bfh and heat to get them out and grinded the new ones just the slightest to get them pressed in. So glad I didn’t do them...hate it when something so simple turns into a total cluster fuk

That lca seems like a throwaway piece instead of serviceable. Pretty sure that’s how toyota designed it.

That's what they would like which is why they charge the fuck out of you for the replacement. Cost of the new lbj's and whiteline booooshings is just over $200, however the aggravation is priceless.

For some reason $700 is popping into my head, and I didn't hear real good reviews on the off brand replacements.

Ouch. The aftermarket is dirt cheap, but probably only mall rated. Now I know why people go fabricated lower.

It's a sad day when you have to call Manny, Moe, and Jack off the bench to bail your sorry ass out....LBJ's in.

So I had something funky happen with my power steering over the weekend while at TDS. I suddenly lost all power steering.

I was trying out the "waterfall" obstacle. I gave up after a few tries and parked my rig (steering was fine). When we were rolling out of the area I noticed my power steering was done.. no leaks, no crimped hoses, no weird sounds, and nothing loose. We babied the truck to the gas station and parked in the back to look things over more. Still nothing visible. All I tried was spraying some Tri-Flow on the steering column's U-joint but that didn't seem to fix it either. After wasting too much daylight (because we had other things we wanted to hit), I decided to just deal with it and muscle the steering around. We were heading toward Salvation Mountain and Slab City next so we hopped on the highway. After about 10-15 miles of being on the highway, we exited and suddenly the power steering was back.

I highly doubt lubing the U-joint would've been the easy solution to this. Anyone have any guesses? I don't think the power steering fluid filter was clogged because the reservoir wasn't overflowing. Would the power steering liquid being too hot cause this? It wasn't even a hot day nor were we even on the trails that long when the power steering went out.
