I think the Seattle expansion will be good but maybe just a tad too early. It seems the NHL is diluting the talent base similar to the NFL.

 

Not sure if you guys heard it or not but news is buzzing around the hockey world that the Vancouver Canucks suck. Seems accurate

Nope. Bad game. Typical Pens. They are not interested in playing from time to time apparently. I just hope that they can flick the switch and keep it going, when it counts. Most of 2018 has been pretty good but they have gotten pretty loose the last few games. Last night was just stupid.

 

Every team does that though. Leafs are pro at doing it this season with all the spoiled kids

Seattle will continue to dilute the talent pool. Just my opinion but if the NHL doesn’t take a long hard look at a tiered system some pretty garbage teams are going to end up making this league look like a joke when they can’t ice NHL caliber goalies or D.

Not exactly. If you look at the other elite leagues outside of North America they are quite often tiered. When a team sucks they drop into a lower tier. When a team is killing it in the lower tier, they move up.

In a way the playoffs already do this. What I’m thinking is that there could be some advantages to making the process a part of the season play year over year. Keep teams the are terrible from playing teams the are elite. The salary cap somewhat does this already but with the expansion of the NHL I’m not sold that 32 teams can find good goaltending and D to play for them all.

I guess we will see how it pans out. If the league stays stable it’s not worth it. At some point though if there’s a large shortage of NHL talent at certain positions it may be worth taking a look at.

 

Good points. I agree somethings gotta change but this expansion means further sucking from the WHL & such. Players don't seem to get time to develop. Quality of the game suffers & in the end nobody wins.

 

Did that court case on player compensation ever get settled between the CHL and their players? If the CHL ever has to pay their players that league is dead. No way teams like Lethbridge, Swift Current, or Victoria could afford to pay their players on the small fan bases they have.

 

It kinda fell off the radar, I'm not sure.
