Ya I bought it from 4 wheel parts because they had a deal with a free compressor. 1000 for locker, enough for two fills of amsoil, drill bit and tap for fitting, and two carrier side bearings from ECGS for the 8in because I have an auto. That is all I bought. I’ve done re gears before and mini and full spools, this was pretty easy. Have the third member is nice but it’s heavy to lug around by yourself. Backlash just needs to be verified and should be the same as when you took it out. Mine was a little sloppy before I took it apart so I went to factory spec using the great instructions ARB provides. The ARB figment guide says 8in is RD132 and the 8.9in? Is RD232. You can always call to confirm but that says all manuals and OR models.

See I’ve got an SR5 auto and was led to believe (I can’t remember where) that it had the 8 inch.

Someone can surely correct me if they have information otherwise, but my understanding and according to ARB, NO factory locker + NO manual = 8in and RD 132

Okay good deal. That was my understanding as well and I ordered gears and rear locker accordingly. I’ll be sure to post back here once installed!

Hey everyone,

Has anyone with a non OR or Pro installed an aftermarket locker like ARB successfully on their third gens? I can’t seem to find much on it, but lots of people say it’s possible when contemplating it as a possible future mod. Also, if one gets a manual trans with the larger 8.75 rear, is it then possible to switch to an OR rear like off a wrecked OR or parted out?

Get arb rear air locker over oem elocker. They do it all the time call around to local gear shops that is who would install it. If you do it same time you do gears they do it for free most of the time. Just charge you for parts.
