Thnx for replying but after reading more about functionality, im wondering if it could be tied to rear camera with a toggle switch and not an independant source as to not have to turn off other audio sources to use front cam. Not dumping on your work but my ideal would be an override switch/camera on switch with another toggle switch for font/rear/mirroring. Not sure if its even possible. Anyway thnx. Will keep this in mind as you do have a great product

I plan to use this to mirror my iPhone and do something like you are saying for the front camera.

I am working on an "Add-On cable" which give driver option to add on Front Camera with toggle switch between front and rear camera while music still playing. This Add-On cable will works with and required HAI cable.
    Benefits of Add-On cable are
    1. Allow user to toggle between front/rear camera and music still playing.
    2. Only turn on Front Camera when toggle switch mentioned on step 1 is toggle to Front Camera. Thus will extend the life of Front Camera.
    3. Leave Composite cable in HAI cable harness available for Media Player / Smartphone Mirroring or more Camera as desired .
    4. Add-On cable is plug and play. It is a cable harness as an extension cable between HU and OEM 24 pin cable. Plug in, connect one wire to 12v accessories power and other wire to +power from front camera. A toggle switch attached to cable harness so user can select between front and rear camera. User can purchase OEM style DPDT Switch body with rocker (Cover face) to subsitute for metal toggle switch if desired.
Will post the image on Sunday and only 4 to be build due to limited supplies at this time.

So if you have this set (Hai and Add-On cable harness), you can switch between both camera with a switch, music still playing while camera is viewing, only power up front camera when selected, A/V mode available for Media player / Smartphone Mirroring. Anytime camera switch and Navigation Override .

Just a suggestion but you may want to consider making a harness with a relay to toggle the front/rear camera vice a DPDT switch. This way you can use an OEM style SPST switch to control it. Something like this:

Thanks. Using relay was my design in the early day. But now to eliminated much of the parts, i will use dpdt switch. User can use toggle switch which will built in the harness (easy to mount with a drilled hole and hide) or get one oem style dpdt switch which can purchase from a vendor. I will update later for the link of that vendor.
The simplest way is to program a PIC ...But i am no mood to do so.
Thanks again for your suggestion .

Ok. You do great work but sometimes it's not so easy to follow the explanations. Can I ask for clarification?

My understanding is that if you add the second harness up you can:
    1. Add another camera (or alternately have both a camera AND a smartphone mirroring device). In other words there will be 2 'camera or other video inputs)
    2. Switch between front and rear cameras - without the music shutting off. However, to see the rear camera you will first have to toggle the switch to turn on the rear camera - then you can (using the new harness) toggle between the front and rear cameras.
    Now some questions:
    1. Can the front/rear toggle switch be easily changed to a rocker switch so I can mount it on the dash? I don't see any reason why not.
    2. Where do I tap for the 'accessories power'? One thing I've been trying to avoid is splicing wires because I don't want any arguments about me modifying the wiring and voiding warranties or messing up my trade in value in a couple years. (I don't need any explanations about why I shouldn't worry from the peanut gallery - just explaining my reasoning)
I like the idea of 2 cameras as I'm going to get a canopy with no windows and it might be useful to have a camera to check on the dog. My kids will certainly get a kick out to that! Or I can do both a front camera and a phone mirroring device yet....decisions, decisions.

This is really good stuff - and things that should have been offered by Toyota!

I got my first harness but haven't yet taken the time to install it - which makes me happy because I think I may need to buy your new one and I'd rather just do it all at once!

If my understanding is correct - you can put me down for one of the new assemblies. :)

    Answer your question
    1. You can use your rocker switch but do inform me before order so I can labeled all the wires to go to your rocker switch. Also I need to know what switch you will be using to labeled wires correct . The rocker switch must be dpdt.
    2. Accessories power can tap at fusebox. Use micro fuse tap to P-outlet 1 or P-outlet 2 labeled in fusebox.
All of your understanding about are correct except:
For rear camera viewing, switch at Add-on cable is selected at Rear Camera. and if:
At R gear then video will be on.
At any other gear then you need to press "Anytime Camera" swith at Hai cable.
    ........
    Simple to understand is:
To view Camera at anytime then you needed to press "Anytime switch " then ensure camera switch at front/rear as wanted.

At this time, I am on the trip and unable to build any until Monday.
    Best regards

    Thanks Hoangde! You rock!

Anyone know what the hole size is for the blanks in the dash (2016 Taco)? There is a blank on the left and one on the right (next to the ECT button if I recall correctly - I'm not in the car).

Grainger has good prices on switches but I'm not quite sure what the size of the mounting hole is - and I'm having a hard time googling it up.

    Here's a DPDT : https://www.grainger.com/category/r...LSCM=17&searchRedirect=dpdt+rocker&sst=subset

Lots of choices on ebay as well.....
