Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Y’all do realize the man is working on other products besides the 3rd gen tune right? Check around just Tacoma world... looks like he is working on 1st, 2nd & 3rd gen tunes on top of all of his other import tuning. Not to mention his arraignments with race teams and other secret squirrel projects.

Yes waiting for a product that you have paid for is difficult to do, I am guilty of this same impatience myself. Seriously guys put out the torches and put the pitch forks back in the wood shed. Give the man some space and time to do his work and I promise you the wait will be worth it. Put down the internet for a while go take your significant other out to dinner or something like that. Laterz.

 

How is the tune so far for everyone running it on 87 octane?

I thought there wouldn't be any differences but apparently 87 won't give the improved performance in the low range that 89 and 91 does.

1. Don’t get a dell laptop. They were good before. Now they’re trash.

2. Touch screen = pricey.

Look for a Lenovo T series laptop. With a minimum of an i5 processor and 8GB of memory and 500GB hard drive.

My butt dyno says so. The 87 tune isn't really a compromise. Sure you can a little more power with 91, but all the drive ability and mid range torque gains are there on 87

 

Touch screen is totally unnecessary on a laptop and very cumbersome to use. I was trying not to be a brand snob, but most any of the consumer level laptops are trash. Sadly even the lenovo models marketed to the general public are also garbage. Stick with anything from the T or W series and you will be fine.

 

I've had that occur since I flashed it. It holds speed fine, but if you try to accelerate, it runs rough, right? I think it's because it's in 5th gear, which is pretty tall for that speed, so it's not an issue with the tune, but the gearing it seems. I'm totally stock running the 87 tune.

 

Eh Also, I think that a lot of us (me included) don't understand that it is probably fairly challenging to deal with anticipating demand and seeing further out on the strategy level when he's busting his ass doing all the day to day tuning, packaging, email answering, etc. This is one truck... in a shifting market. Hell by 2019 Toyota may have the problem mostly fixed and then he'd have to go through the agony of firing someone. Plus... California and all... what does hiring an employee there entail? Health insurance? Minimum wage? Cost versus reward? Makes sense short term to try to better manage people's expectations. Better to just double whatever time he thinks it's going to take, because people will grumble but be ok if they're told expectation of one month from now and it comes in three weeks. They'll riot and pitchfork him if he says one week and it comes in three weeks.

Running 91 octane and don't think I can go back to 87. This truck just gets ON IT in the powerband.

 

When TRD releases a kit like this for 3rd Gen, my bank account will be empty again.

 

I understand. But imagine being someone who bought this tune without knowing about Tacomaworld and this thread.

I understand his concern for having someone work with him who’s now a competitor. But he needs a secretary not a second person to write new maps.

 

Just swing by the Home Depot parking lot in the early hours. I'm sure he could pick up some extra help to box up all those dongles
