I really want to buy this 2012 Toyota Tacoma

It only has 90k miles no accidents no mechanical issues whats so ever

BUT is a 2WD only and I was already thinking what if I wanted to have 4wd later

Should I buy it and then convert it later or just wait to buy a 4WD version

You would have a hard time converting that later.

I’d buy it if you wanted a truck.

If you want a 4x4, though, I’d pass.

Looks like a 5 lug. Not sure what's involved on a 4x4 swap in that aspect.

Might be more headache than it's worth.

If you want a 4wd truck, I'd suggest getting one.

And that's coming from an enthusiast that loves his 2wd PreRunner.

Conversion is never fun. Depends on which qualified mechanic do the job you might not even want to risk taking it just for a trip to see your parents next town. And then when you ready to sell it, do you want having to explain all that works done to the car not having these in the first place. Will it worth it?

Nah, my truck is just a toy really. Slowly becoming a promotional vehicle also.

I'll probably pick up a 1st gen 4x4 to bash up at some point.

Also, there's a huge difference in suspension between that 5 lug you posted and the 6 lug PreRunner I'm posting about.

I believe its a 5 lug again Im in the midst of buying it so I am not a pro about its specs quite yet, but I really need a truck and I've always loved Toyota so thats why I think my next question would be

Is it a good buy with the description I gave ?

The regular cabs only come in a long bed and I was just curious about the dollar amount.

I'm honestly not that well educated in that aspect to give you advice.

But, somebody will chime in hopefully.

Wait for a 6 lug pre runner. The 5 lug truck is a lot different and harder to modify/upgrade. You would spend a lot just trying to make it as strong and capable as a stock 6 lug.
