I expect them to offer a solution within in the time of the warranty offered. Nothing more. Once that expires I'm on my own, and I'm not afraid to replace a radiator if needed.

I agree. OP stated he added about a gallon of coolant, so lets say 4 quarts. The system holds 10 to 11 quarts, depending on trans and with or without tow package. Close to 1/3 of coolant leaked out, but no warnings came on and stayed on. I would suggest a radiator, and a water pump, of course that is if the compression and leakdown test were within specs.

no problem. I did look up the oem for the radiator to see if the warranty was going to be longer for you but it was only one year. sorry bout your bad luck

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I’ve seen road debris kicked up from another cars tire puncture a radiator. So it can happen. But the puncture will die down lower otherwise the condenser would of taken the hit.

But for them to claim the engines junk is just them trying to get money out of you. If the engine never got to h and there was never any steam it’s likely fine. Replace the radiator, bleed it and it’ll probably be a ok.

Plenty of the older 3.5s have come in with over 200k and have had radiators leaking. Usually fixing the leak the car leaves and doesn’t have issues again.

Before replacing the radiator, I would have a second opinion with a proper diagnosis performed and decide what to do from there.

Yeah, they are the ones who said I needed a new engine. If they won't replace then I'll probably just have radiator replaced and take to another shop and have it checked and make a decision at that point. They said it is too dangerous to drive but I can get it to another shop. Also, I'm not saying it can't happen with road debris but probably not in my situation. It was a defect.

Fun Radiator story . When that 94 Pickup pinhole that we sealed finally blew on the interstate about 20 miles from home. I drove it back taking a some cool down breaks and driving with hood popped to the latch for increased air flow. Got back and the oil was bubbling in the pan. Replaced the radiator next day and all was fine. The 22re could not be phased.

Did you get the compression test results? I would like to see the numbers across each cylinder.

OP like I said either second opinion or replace the rad and just ride it out until it blows up. The dealer ship could be lieing to you. I've had coolant hoses let go and just filled the rad and ripped home and parked the car and replace the hose with no issues.

No it isn't. It's not a face value question, we both know it's your passive aggressive way to say "what do you know about the 1980s?". So just say what you mean and draw out whatever conclusion you've reached so we both move on instead asking dumb questions which are completely irrelevant to the point being made.

I'd hoped you guys would've been able to offer something or someway to deal effectively with the dealership but I guess this is such a rare thing everyone I talk to about has never really seen anything like it.

Can't offer much more than get the compression test results, let the adjuster look at it, get a second opinion. I hope everything works out in your favor.
