Does anyone know the size of the license plate screws on our trucks. The screws won't tighten and I'm afraid I will loose my plate. Do I need to go with a bigger diameter screw and would the dealer have them? Sorry for such a trival question. Thanks,

I would go to your local hardware store bring in one of the screws and have them get you a new one, it should fit. I'm guessing a bad thread on the screw?

They screw into plastic, IIRC, so the problem is likely that the plastic hole is worn out. Go up a size in screws and get something self-tapping. Just screw it in place and you'll be good to go.

^^ X2. And be careful tightening--just snug it up. The plastic strips very easily

The dealer installed 1/4" x 1" lag screws on mine.

My front bumper has never had a front plate on it and I got my plates today. what should I use to mount the front one?

Same thing happened to me when I was trying to add a plastic cover to my front plate. I went into the Toyota dealer, and they gave me a bag of 6 larger screws (black even). They were a little longer, so it worked out well.

Sorry. I know it's probably a stupid question, I just don't want to f things up and screw up the bumper and have the dang thing falling off all the time.

Hate to dig up an old thread but I can’t seem to find the thread pitch to mount the license plate to the truck. It’s a 2020 Tacoma and there is nothing there for me to take out to reference at the hardware store
