You know, I hear this is a thing... but honestly I have NEVER seen anyone looking for work at Home Depot... is it just because where I live?

If you buy OVTune and don't use 91 octane tune, I just feel like... :boink::burnrubber:

Damnit! I was happy on 87... Filled up tonight with 91 with plans to flash in the morning just to see how it was. I guess I'll probably have to get used to the couple extra dollars per tank

87 gets on it enough for me. Plus 87 is $.65 cheaper per gallon where I live.

    Hey @OVTune

Matt I just drove up to Big Bear for the night and I have a question. Is it possible to make 3rd gear lock the torque converter in S mode? When I was climbing the hill I would put it in 3rd to hold rpm’s and the converter temps would rise, then I would put it into forth and the temps would drop by 20 plus degrees once the converter locked.

    3rd gear temps

    4th gear locked

Just curious, how long did you try 87 for? I see some people saying there's not a big difference between the two, but I'd rather spend the extra at the pump and have the truck perform up to its potential.

I dont have the tune yet, but they say to feel a difference you need 10hp+. With 91 you get 20-22hp+

Perhaps I’m misinterpreting what you’re saying, but it sounds like you’re saying your truck runs rough because your AT truck is in too high of a gear since you flashed it......If that’s the case, it sounds like there’s a problem to me....:notsure:

Anyway, NO my truck is not running rough in any of the gears. When I give it gas it’ll usually just go, and it’ll downshift and go if it’s in too high of a gear. It’s nice and smooth. However, every once in a while I’ll give it gas and it does nothing. It’s almost like the truck doesn’t know I’m hitting the gas. It almost feels like I’m just coasting, it’s odd. This only happens somewhere in the 40 mph range (+/- 5 mph) at lower rpms, it’s not consistently repeatable, it’s definitely intermittent. I’ve been OVtuned since the first release back in July 2017. I’ve ran v1.01, v1.01B, v1.02 and v1.02C-A and this is the first time I’ve experienced this anomaly. Perhaps it’ll work itself out after I put more miles on it, I guess we’ll see. Overall still loving v1.03!!

That really depends where you live. 80 litre tank and the difference where I am is 26 cents a litre. $20.80 a fill, no thanks. I'm running the 87 tune and absolutely love it.

What PIDs did you use for the lock, misfire, and gear selection status? I have the OBD FusionToyota pack, but can’t seem to located those. Thanks.

Are you saying 20-20hp increase when compared to stock or compared to 87 octane? I DEFINITELY feel a huge difference from stock on 87 octane.

Yeah mine is kinda doing that also. While cruising I feel like I’m doing a lot of coasting and it kinda starts chugging like it doesn’t know what gear to be in. I’m running stock tires and I talked to @OVTune and he said that it might be because he set the tune with his truck which has heavier tires which would require more throttle to maintain speed. I think this is a reason he is looking to get a set of stock wheels and tires to adjust some of these little things. He’s done an amazing job overall.

For what it is worth, mine does that from time to time and I don't have the tune. Not trying to complicate things, but I'm wondering if it isn't a tune issue.

I’ve also had it happen two times. Kinda reminded me of feathering the clutch in my 2-stroke dirt bike to keep it on the pipe. That’s the best way I can explain it.
Approached a slight hill 5th gear. I tried to keep the throttle input steady to see if the truck would hold the gear - it didn’t so I applied a small amount of throttle (less tha 1/4”) which appeared to confused the truck a little. Possibly not enough to result in a downshift. Truck did not lose speed. Hasn’t happened again. Probably because I add more pedal before the hill now.

Ok, just did my daily commute on 1.03c in the snow. Very similar conditions when I was on 1.03b file and here are some thoughts:

While driving at 30 mph @ 2k rmps in third gear, I tried to mimic the end breaking loose. It did not. I tried at 25 at around 1500k rpm's, it did not break loose. I tried at 35 at around 2200 rpms, it did not break loose.

Now here is the interesting part. For all these tests, I started with easy throttle inputs (as before on 1.03b I would break the end loose with very mild throttle inputs) and it was very uneventful. Then I ran each test again and went instantly to ~75% throttle, then pinned it. In each test I was UNABLE to break the end loose.

So for those who are about to read this next part and say "I told you so" or any other comment of the sort, a suggestion: never start a business of your own. It's called R&D for a reason.

With that said, @OVTune I think a file between 1.03b and 1.03c would be absolutely the sweet spot.

1.03b seemed to be the sweet spot for the high end throttle response and 1.03c calmed that down, but lacks the peep and the slight wow factor. However, a file that is right between these two I think would be absolutely amazing.

I was NOT in 4wd for this test and never felt the throttle inputs were going to break the end loose. It was a very nice commute in these snowy conditions.

This is interesting data. Per the features list for AT 1.03 it looked like S mode was full lock all gears. Will add this PID on Fusion and see if I witness the same results. I often hold 3rd when on curvy mountain roads for many miles at a time but haven’t yet tested this on 1.03

These are in the transmission pid section.

    Status of the gear status

    Lock up status

In the engine section you will find all the different misfire pids.
