I thought our gas is high at $2.71, glad I don't have to pay 3.25:bananadance:

If it's paid for, or close to it, -keep it. And get a dependable, comfortable, - (if that's possible) econo cruiser for the long commutes.

The fuel savings if any would be minimal and you would be buying an inferior vehicle .

My thought is $10,000 is a lot of gas. Also a 2015 is only 3 years old and if you keep it long term diesel mechanics cost more.

Spoke to the dealer again and they wont lower their price any further so I'm sticking with the ole girl and getting some used 17s with 265 65 r17s for those highway trips. After a lot of research it seems that the Colorado is sort of trash reliability wise (lots of plastic in mechanical components= no bueno). Now if Toyota brings the KD engines to the USA... Thanks again for all your thoughts, I needed someone to talk me out of jumping the Toyota ship!

Paid 3.10 at the local Costco the other day. Most other places around are sitting between 3.40 -> 3.80 depending. California gas is expensive :(

Yep, I’m old. Swore off GM products in the 70s after a Chevy, Pontiac Trans Am, and a Buick. Long time Ford guy (F-250 7.3 Powerstroke) and Tacoma guy (2015 OR). Just couldn’t get rid of my Long haul heavy lifting F-250 (2 wheel drive), but also needed a four wheel drive for my farm so got a Tacoma. The Tacoma is a great all round mid size truck.

All pickups get sorry gas mileage. Before I retired from daily commuting, I had a 2012 Mazda3 that got nearly 40 mpg. Just saying.

Only downside I can see is re-sale, but that being said, life is short. Get what makes you happy :)

But you're not taking into account the $3500 (or whatever it is) option cost of the diesel.

I ran the numbers once based on average fuel costs for the past two years. Not even factoring in DEF, it was over 150,000 miles to break even.

I have a 2006 2500 hd duramax with the Lbz motor I bought brand new, according to the diesel guys that's the best year/engine combo so my experience has been it's a great truck but after about 8-10 years expect the infamous chevy paint flake off. In so cal the paint just starts peeling off either down to the primer or even down to the metal so when I was looking at mid size trucks that is what steered me away from buying a chevy. Other than that my duramax has been excellent which is an Isuzu motor by the way not sure who makes the diesel for their Colorado. If the ranger would have been out I might have gone that route instead of the price was right. I have owned chevy, ford, jeep, Honda and believe it or not had more issues with the 2 hondas.

25-30k plus the cost of the truck. So 70k? Rather get a full size turbo diesel. Lol

Funny seeing this thread. Just read a few nightmare stories about the diesel colorado. All the owners went that route instead of a tacoma, and all regretted it.

    Good luck!
