Strongly considering hood latches

Heck, maybe its bent though offroading and flexing

 

anythings possible I guess. I would think the hood would be the last thing to bend haha.

 

My latch on the hood is broken. I will be installing a set soon

I've got a couple of sets of the

$75 aerocatch 120-2000 above panel flush locking hood latch and pin kit - black

I had the parts for years and finally got around to installing Aerocatch Xtreme’s, as I got tired of watching the corners of my hood flutter at 70+ mph ever since I switched from an ARB to a flat top Pelfreybilt bumper. This thread was a lot of help, and I took a very similar approach to @Airdog with my install.

 

These latches certainly have a cool factor. But I can offer an observation regarding winter weather and frozen tailgates and doors...bitch to get open when iced. These look like they would be impossible to open when soaked and frozen.

In all seriousness though I hear what you’re saying, and I agree that it’s certainly a possibility. Racecar parts and other mods definitely have inevatible ramifications and tradeoffs.

Another hood pin solution that I considered are made by Quik Latch, as they seem to be gaining steam in the aftermarket world. They have a much smaller footprint, come in several colors, and claim 100% corrosion resistance: http://www.quik-latch.com/QL-38-Series-Hood-Pins.html

But they aren’t exactly cheap, and I already had the Aerocatches from another project

 

I prefer the quick latch look.
