**NEW** If you folks weren't aware, there is a sensor behind the sombrero also know as the TSS (Toyota Safety Sense) Sensor for 2018's. We added a mod specifically to incorporate this PITA sensor. I say its a PITA because it is extremely sensitive to have it work properly. We field tested it with our local Toyota dealership to make sure it worked. After the 3rd attempt we finally made it TSS compliant.sensor2.jpg sensor3.jpg sensor1.jpg sensor2.jpg sensor3.jpg sensor1.jpg

Will i have to take the truck to the dealership to have the sensor re-calibrated?

I found it. You have to make sure you choose 2018 for year on the drop down at the bottom.

Man, I have been looking for one of these. What is it made off, with it have the same issue with the plastic trim around it cracking? I would have to wait until I get my Demello bumper and see if the lo-pro loop would cover the sensor since it is not in the center anymore.

The grilles are Laser Cut T304 Stainless Steel...The glass is 3/16" Thick with a Matte Black Vinyl. The key to have this thing work properly was to have absolutely no metal obstructions in front of the "sonar". Once we did that, after the 4th grille design, it quit throwing codes...

Plastic trim cracking? If the grilles are formed to the plastic shell as they should there should be no issue. All our grilles are laser formed on a $1M Laser. If the grilles are not bent correctly I can maybe see it would put the plastic trim under stress

We've set the Bracket to "0" degrees like the factory. The only time you will have to re-calibrate it is if you're raising the front or lifting the vehicle. Even putting heavy stuff in the bed will have the sensor not work properly. We have done extensive field testing with the Tacomas, Tundras, and there is a lot of things Toyota is not telling the public about the sensor and I would rather not put it in a public forum...lol

There were issues with other aftermarket grilles that cracked plastic when in areas that have rapid/drastic temperature change due to plastic expand and contract, but metal is stiffer and didn’t allow for the expansion/contraction.

Do all of your grilles that list a "2018" option in the year dropdown have this same update?

Is there any protection to the sensor with it mounted like that from debris kicking up?

DBCustomzFab, I have your 2016 – 2017 Tacoma Double Pod Grille on my '16 and LOVE it. Turning in my lease and buying an '18 this week.
Is there a way to mod mine with a kit from you?
Alternatively I want to confirm that the +$30 when you choose 2018 on your site now is to add TSS support on a new double pod build? (pics?)

FYI I confirmed with DBCustomzFab by phone that if you choose the 2018 drop down when ordering it adds the TSS sensor support referenced on this tread. See below screen shot.

I have a dual pod without the sensor support in great shape for sale from my '17 I just turned in.
Black perimeter bolts, Toyoto script, and both magnetic gray and silver sky inserts available.
I don't have enough history on TW to post in the sales section yet so DM me. $500 + shipping OBO.

I'm interested in these grilles. Are they pretty heavy? How much stress gets put on the plastic surround? I live near Chicago so I'm concerned about it cracking when it gets below zero degrees here.
