Just picked up a Toytec Boss full leaf pack, so I’m almost ready to go!!

    Two questions:

Are bumpstops easy to switch out after the fact (front and back)? I would like to go without new bumps for a bit to see if it is bottoming out much, but if it’s a pain I’ll go ahead and do them while it’s all apart.

Any advantage/disadvantage to a u bolt flip kit? My understanding is that the purpose is to have a little more clearance and not worry about the bottom of the u bolts hitting rock, etc?

Sure! It's best described as stiff when you need it, like cornering and braking, and softer when you don't like just driving down the street. Overall It's not at all harsh, just firm but forgiving. I've been putting it through it's paces including a railroad track jump and I'm in love.:D It really is how a Tacoma or any truck should ride.[/QUOTE]

Fabulous - thank you for the review! I've got the kit, just need to install it. I have the bushing kit coming too, just in case.

Do you have pre/post hub to fender measurements ?

Most guys are doing AAL. So I'm curious to know measurements with just the kit and no aal.

Also, is yours a TRD Off Road? I don't see a hood scoop, so I would assume so.

Just went and picked mine up from port Angeles!

Awesome experience on the COHO ferry, didn't get charged taxes in Washington and NO duty or taxes coming back into Canada.

(Hint: wear military themed sweater and answer border agent questions calmly with "yes boss" and "no boss" and you get treated pretty damn good.)

These suckers are beefy. The fronts have to be 20 pounds a piece.

Same as mine. SR5. Could you do hub to fender measurements? I'm a 2014 DCSB. Here are my pre-lift measurements.

    Ground to fender: (Michelin 265.70.16)
    DF 34.25------PF 34.75
    DR 36---------PR 36.5

    Hub to fender:
    DF 20----------PF 20.5
    DR 21.75------PR 22.25

I got the rear done so quick this morning that I went ahead and installed the ecgs bushing and front coil overs. I just finished up about an hour ago so pics will have to wait until tomorrow. I will say I am extremely happy with the General springs HD pack. I got the full 2” in the rear. The bushing install wasn’t too bad either. I’ve only driven the truck about 2 miles since installed, but it’s night and day difference in ride.

OK, so with all the back and forth I'm not clear on what is needed. I've got the new spring pack from Toyota in regard to the recall. Installed before I just recently got the vehicle. So, do I install a new spring pack like the one from General Springs or an add-a-leaf?

Second, is on this shock package, are there any bushings I should be replacing on top of the coils and shocks when I install the fronts? That is, when these shocks come in (lots of hope in that statement!).

I am kind of confuse about your question. Did you buy this suspension kit? If so, the springs comes with it. The thing people are adding/replacing is the leaf pack in the rear. Either do add-a-leaf or just replace the whole setup. It is optional, but people have been reporting that it is a bit taller in the front (like .25-.5") so the add-a-leaf or whole leaf replacement raises the rear further up.

The bushing is the needle bearing replacement in the front diff on the drivers side. Again optional, but the stock needle bearing is garbage and better suspension kits put more stress to them. you would run into having it replace later on, but suspension kits and bigger tires wear it down a lot faster; some people even reported it going out the very next day. To keep it from happening, people replace it with ECGS (company name) bushing which is an aftermarket part that doesn't have the "needles".

Also, the bushing I talked about in the previous post is only $60...

Rear bump stops are easy. When you're installing the flip kit it's the U bolts holding those stops.

You're correct on the reason for a flip kit.

I haven't touched the front bump stops but it doesn't look too hard.

Sorry for the confusion. My first question was in regard to the rear springs. Yes, I bought the shock kit, but had an issue with delivery. OEM Parts is sending the package out again since UPS decided to return it to them without delivering it. Long story. Since I had the rear springs replaced under the recall, my question went to what do I put in there, add-a-leaf or new spring pack.
Second was the question on the coils. Is there a rubber bushing on top of the coil pack? Most cars I've replaced struts on, have a large bushing there on the top. I did not know about the ECGS bushing though I saw a reference to it. I'll try and find an instruction on how to replace it...is it something that can be done by someone new to the Tacoma?

My thoughts are that if the leaf pack is a warranty pack and still new that it's still sturdy and it would be a waste to buy a whole new pack. That's why I'm going AAL for mine.

That makes sense to me. I think there are three leafs and an overload(?) flat spring on the bottom on mine. Like I said, I just got this vehicle.
