I have no issue for registration. You got to think it would protect both you and others too. You by ensuring if your gun was ever stolen it could be traced and looked for.

The US people would not stand for confiscation. Countries that have confiscated weapons from their people were communist or dictatorship lead countries, and did so before being involved in some type of conflict.

 

Australia and England come to mind a long with other very liberal Socialist democratic countries in europe.

I have all my serial #s written and photo graphed as well as they are all in a Trust so if they were to get stolen all I have to do is give that to the authorities. I mean if a thief steals something they are looking for a quick buck and it may never show up again even with a registration it would just stay in the black market.

Every encounter I have had with a police officer when they asked for my weapon they checked the serial # to see if it were stolen.

 

England and Australia allow guns, they each have restrictions though.

But they required everyone to turn in their guns because of a registry. In England you aren't even allowed to use your gun for self defense even if the perp has an illegal gun trying to do harm to you. Australia just got some gun ownership back after there was an all out ban and it is very very very restrictive for ownership.

I guess what I am trying to say is it is a slippery slope with anything that restricts our constitutional rights. Once there is any inch given the possibility of giving more and more of it away happens. Take Canada for example that does not have a constitutional right of free speech you can be arrested for hate speech. There are groups trying to get that part of our 1st amendment right taken away. So do we make a law outlawing someone detest for someone else or a group where would that stop. If you get my drift. I think that hate speech is disgusting just as much as they do but I think that as a society we should just point those a**holes out and just not do business, hire, etc with those morons.

Politically I am very much a Constitutionalist/Libertarian for insight in where and why I view this kind of thing the way I do. Plus I kind of feel like we are doing a disservice to those who fought in the revolutionary war by bending on our rights they viewed as not given by the government but by our creator (who ever/whatever that may be) and protected by the government to not infringe or deny those rights. Some of those who fought for those rights were my family so I feel like I owe it to them to continue the fight.

We are the only country in the world that says we have certain rights that are granted not by government but just by the essence of our being and that the government should protect those rights and I'd hate to see any of those rights being choked, controlled, restricted, or taken away.

I’m all for 21 and requiring training and certification to own. Shit, we already do that ccw.. why not for rifle? Government knows I have guns and knows exactly how much ammo I buy, calibers, etc.. so none of that matters to me.

Confiscation will never happen. There’s 300 million owned.. I think it would end poorly if that was attempted..

Again I don’t know the answer here.. mental health treatment (funding from the govt) HAS to increase significantly.. that’s one thing I’d require if the above was my compromise.

We all continue this one day face to face. I have said to much as it is. I understand your point. My family has pretty much fought in every war as I know it. We continue to in order for everyone to have all constitutional right. We must find away as a country to fix CONUS issues and unstand it’s the human that controls the finger and weapon to kill another. There is more to this than just taking away guns b/c criminals will still get them.

 

The problem is the indoctrination. some Cops and military alike may be so brainwashed they forget the oath they take to the people and the constitution not the gov't which could lead to marshall law for a confiscation. Also like 99% of my family those who own would glady follow the pied piper and give up their guns if the govt said to or not rise up and fight to retain that right.

I've got a kid in school too and it worries me as well. I am teaching her how to try her damnedest to not become a victim if something were to happen at her school.

But this past SOB should of been on the no buy list with our current laws. The FBI and the gov't failed us on this one. Same with the 25 that were killed in the church in TX but that wan't a good case because it didn't fit the narrative because a good guy with an AR killed the SOB.

I have been talking to a friend of mine and there are a lot of social changes that have happened over the yrs like parents not paying attention to their kids, single parenthood, split homes, kids not growing up until later in life, just to name a few. Hell I'd be ok with the 21 thing. I agree there is a huge mental health discussion that seems to be kind of addressed but in a manor that isn't helpful to those that need the help.

 

Agreed! My family is like Lt. Dan from forest gump. A very sore point in my life was not being allowed to join the military. I buried a bunch of my friends since 2001 and wish I could of been side by side with them. My great Uncle is one of my hero's bc of his service to this country and I really wanted to follow in his footsteps.

 

I gotcha on all fronts here. But my oath nor any military oath states to the people. It is to the constitution, POTUS, and maybe the Governor of NC. Now on the other hand POTUS, governs, senators, and congressmen, there oath of office is to the people, the laws and the constitution.

And there is a lot more that goes into martial law that just making people hand over their weapons.

 

I was just saying using martial law for confiscation I know there is a lot that has to happen for it to go down.
