Im saying stock to 91octane. The increase in power your feeling on 87 is most likely the torque converter magic Matt worked.

Definitely not just the torque converter. The low rpm gains are readily apparent with 1.03.

I for one am super stoked and can't wait for my tune. That said, no that i understand whats going on, because i read it here, i will not comlain and i'll just wait for my tune to arrive. one thing i might note is Tacoma sales for 2018 are 36,529 or up by 25/3%!! This tells me a few things. Tacomas are very popular. Toyota may think "why would we fix anything? we're killing it" and OVT better up his production.

Please try to take this as a constructive compliment , but you reeeallly need to hire some people to help you. This product deserves a team of customer service and sales agents to propel your business. I am not computer savvy at all but TW members assured me you were very helpful so I pulled the trigger and bought your product. After I received the product and start to read into the instructions, I start to become overwhelmed and realize very fast I got in over my head. So I emailed/PM'd you and at first you were responsive, and at one point even offered to help me install it if I drove to your shop. After that email on Feb 5th you completely ignored all my emails and PM's. At this point I am feeling a heavy dose of buyers remorse and frustration. Luckily I went back to TW and offered to pay someone and another member came to help. But even then, he had to stop and go home on day 1 and come back the next day because he was waiting hours on an email from you in order to continue to the install. Luckily I have time off so no big deal for me or him, but this can really screw up peoples plans who have schedules. After I got everything installed I am more than happy with the performance and to be honest with you, I would have paid more based on how well my truck drives now. But you are really closing yourself off from a huuge market of Taco owners like me who are not tech savvy but have money to spend and want more performance. I know a lot of Taco Owners who wont buy your product for similar reasons.

Take the handcuffs off your business! Your holding back by staying too small.

The Tacoma is also the only decent small truck on the market. The Colorado/Canyon is garbage, and the Frontier IMHO is just MEH. Had there been a used Ford Ranger available when I bought my 2014 that's what I would have. Discontinuing that truck was probably one of the biggest mistakes Ford has made. All the people that tried the Colorado/Canyon to replace their S10 have finally given up throwing money at their trucks and bought a Tacoma. The people that have had their Frontier for a few years ago are realizing they really don't like the truck that much for the price difference. The Ranger die-hards are desperately trying to keep their trucks on the road until Ford comes out with something to replace it.

Again, this is all just my opinion. You may feel otherwise and that's a-okay with me.

I'm sure this got buried under the mass of post.

Sure, he can hire help but that takes time and training. I've been on this roller coaster ride since inception when at TW member mentioned him and the possibility of a tune. This was early 2017. Matt has been giving it more than 100%. Even through with the flu, holy shiet, he still manages to send out keys and dongles. He has taken on a lot and needs to improve the efficiency of some things. A few TW members stepped up and create how to videos. Irregardless of how good those videos are, it is buried in this post somewhere. They answer a majority of technical issues you guys are asking.

All i'm saying is, give the guy some room to breath.

I agree. Problem is, he’s a good dude with a great product. He’s going to have to hurt some feelings and create a battle rhythm that supports his business plan in order to acheive scalable growth.

    My recommendation to @OVTune is:

    1. Pop the happy bubble - no more orders until you feel ready. Who cares if we are upset about not getting a product. Fulfill the ones who’ve paid, but no more.

    2. Take a SCRUM (google it) approach to growing. Understand that roughly 80% of people are going to make their decisions to buy your product on roughly 10% of the features (e.g. it’s great that I can do Visual Basic, embedded scripts, etc. in Microsoft Word, but if selecting fonts was difficult or formatting a paragraph required a lot of effort, the market would be extremely limited and people would shy away from it).

    * in the OVT case, I recommend you focus on improving comms with buyers using an official medium and not TW.
    * The flash manager was a HUGE inprovement. make getting our license keys just as simple.
    * Write a coherent set of instructions that a 5th grader could follow.
    * Have a help/FAQ page and supporting 1-800-I can’t figure this shit out phone number.

I’m sure you could crowdsource most of these items to members here on TW to start.

Official offer: I’m a Systems Engineer and my wife is an HR Exec in the tech startup industry. We have some free time to volunteer and expect nothing in return.

You have my email and phone number if interested.

In addition i think most people on Tacomaworld dont understand development (alpha, beta, etc) and what that means nor that time lines are constantly changing as new things are discovered through R&D. Nothing about what OVT is doing is quick or easy or simple.... or this wouldn’t be the first tune available for the Tacoma. Managing and setting expectations is incredibly difficult as there’s always going to be someone unhappy no matter what you do.

Silly question... but any chance we stop trying to run OVTune's business ? It's his to run and customers to use or not. I'm sure its well intentioned but has gotten tiresome (and I am outside of WashingtonDC with high levels of daily bullshit exposure).

    I guess 2016 Taco PIDs a little different. I don’t have
“status of the gear selector” as available PID. Anyone w a 16 figure this out in OBD fusion?

Also searching for torque converter temp PID, found “status of torque converter temp raise history”. That the one?

Ya, I think we found the sweet spot. A file right between 1.03b and 1.03c.

We are simply providing feedback in a no BS format lol . Some companies pay good $$ for this kind of blunt input from the customers. We don't sugar coat anything on TW lol

So it’s ok to provide unsolicited advice on product design or features, but offering feedback to help him do better business is unwarranted? Sounds like you’ve been in D.C. too long!

Tiresome? Dude, you’ve been here for 6 days. Get over yourself.
