20180304_142707.jpg Bent slider should I cut it at the red line and cap them. Thoughts? Think it will end up just being a place to get cought on a rock? Only reason I'm thinking is since the other one got welded to far forward and the tire rubs.

If it were me, I'd cut them off and re-weld them back in the right place

Drivers side isn't bad since it's bent if I could easily bend the other I'd just do that. Im thinking of cutting them off but that's going to be alot of grinding wheels to get threw the welds.

you can check the heads and block for flatness with a good straight edge
If the cylinders look good you can get away with honing and new rings. pistons dont have to be replaced if they look like they're in good shape.. but i would replace them. should be markings on the block to show which to get (if you go oem and the cylinders are still in spec)

I'm basically restoring this thing which is why I asked. Anything else I should do in the engine?

tried taking the stud out for the steering rack today so i could replace it (threads buggered up on the end for the nut)... and low and behold, the asshole who did my frame cross threaded the stud into the nut on the frame... the nut broke off the frame I'm not a happy individual right now..

rods likely can be reused. cranks probably fine.. new bearings, new head bolts and main bolts.. have the block hot tanked if you want it nice and clean. maybe have some headwork done.. if the engines running fine right now you don't need much for it to be restored to like-new

and of course paint the block and enjoy a shiny engine block

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Aaaaaand DONE! Waterpump / Timing belt complete.

Answer to your question... Waterpump / Timing belt probably took 8 hours actual wrenching time.

It took me longer than that because I was cleaning every thing I could get to, while I had it taken apart, I was having to come up with solutions on the fly with the aluminum radiator... making the shroud fit and the lower radiator hose. I spent a good solid 2-3 hours just flushing the cooling system before I started, and had to make a few parts runs because I forgot you should replace the crank pulley bolt when you do this, my kit from Aircabinman came with the wrong thermostat, and I needed an upper radiator hose from a 1998 Dodge Neon to use for my lower on the new radiator.

If yours is the same as mine, 6 cyl auto, you need a 90916-03075 Thermostat.

He sent me a 90916-03093 Thermostat.

The damn thermostat at the Stealer-ship was 52 bucks!
