I've done that a few times offroading. I'm at 100k now, and the clutch is still good.

Did the same thing yesterday parking a new trailer into a tight spot up a hilly driveway, snow/ice covered over a soft gravel driveway. Never burnt my clutch like that before. Rookie move on my part, but hard to avoid.

I don't understand how Toyota chose the Reverse Gear Ratio for the 3rd Gen, it feels like a highway gear.

Yup it's one of my only few complaints about the truck.

First kinda bugs me too. Often trucks have a 1st gear that's super low for if they're towing, then second is low enough to get started from a stop if you're not towing. In this truck 1st seems low enough for it's relatively average towing capacity, but second is too high to start off with without a little too much slipping so I have to shift first and then 2nd before I'm even out of an intersection. I'd definitely choose fixing the Reverse gearing over that, though.

I wonder if Weddle could make a lower ratio reverse gear that could be swapped in by a transmission shop in the near future?

    Mostly stuff I built.
I do not think it will bolt up. Bellhousing pattern appears different. Hope that helps. I will crawl under the Tacoma and the 4runner and do some double checking on that for you when’s get a day off.

What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting with the 3rd gen V6 trucks?

I am looking at getting a manual 3rd gen but I was wondering about the gas mileage.

Getting 22MPGs on a winter gas in a city driving, took this pic couple weeks ago.

Can go down to 18-19 if I drive aggressively and rice with sportcars:burnrubber:

Recent round trip to Banff and Kananaskis country. Avg speed probably around 90 km/h.
4x4 on 90% of time due to poor road conditions.

I don't live in a coma, but I do live at altitude. I'm losing 25-30% of my power, but lt uses less gas as well. This is over 22k miles20180204_204632.jpg

I average around 19-20. Got 21.8 at half tank mark once...dropped the hammer the rest of the tank to make sure I was contributing enough emissions to the atmosphere.
