The town I grew up in I never wanted to leave. Now I never want to go back. It went from a honest blue collar logging and agriculture area to broke down, vagrants, tweekers and dope. Sad but true. At first glance it looks almost the same. From the highway you'd never know the difference. And it ain't getting any better.

I have been harassing my dad to get a side by side and get rid of the 4 wheeler since he can't really operate it very well anymore..

Those setups were nice in a full size truck, but the back of a Tacoma gets small in a hurry. Depends on how long your out too but even 2 nights can be along time especially if the weather turns to crap and it rains\snows. And you (at least I) normally have a fair amount of other gear to move around. I do use the rear access cab seats for some storage when I sleep back there. Trying to change clothes, sitting up, leg cramps. Did I mention leg cramps?

I have found the best solution again for me anyhow is to get as low as you can. OK I also read quite a lot of others peoples experiences too. A half shelf that extends only as far as your pant leg inseam so you can sit up helps a lot. The sliding drawers with a sleeping platform on top of them just isn't for me. Maybe because so many years sleeping in a coffin rack. But I just am not as young as I used to be either. But I do it when I can't find a cabin to rent.

After the second night I've usually had enough. The Cabelas deluxe cot pad is comfortable, as much as my bed. It is all the other things that gets old. Like me LOL.

$100 a night burnt orange furniture included. Think I had that same couch in the early 80's. After sleeping in the back of the truck for 2 nights it was worth every penny. But I'm a lot closer to 60 than 50. Up until my mid 50's lived in the back of a lot of my vehicles for a long time. Or more than likely a tent.

How much better is the ford then the 4 cyl taco on fuel I would loose the focus if for no other reason the resale on the taco will always be higher then the focus. I have not seen any of the dual purpose trailers in person only on youtube so no comment on that. She is going to drive the T4R so get it what ever way she likes and you get the best of both worlds . Small load of home depot stuff run the truck over large hook up the trailer to the t4r and go .

The more I think and rethink how I want to build my camp trailer, the closer I get to that 14' toyhauler. Not that I'll haul a motorcycle very often (or at all), but for the creature comforts, the open floor plan and the ability to stand up inside. It's a little big for the Jeep but the Tacoma will handle it.

IMGOBO ... T4R is more truck than car, defined as SUV. We looked at both it and the Highlander in 2014. I was trying to put Kristi in a T4R, she preferred the Highlander, which is more car like, defined as a Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV). I’d buy and drive a T4R with no hesitation. Just my 2¢ FWIW.
