I've not done that, but would be easy enough to test with something. Or maybe Google it?

Yes, the grill is already black, however mine came with a couple of blemishes.

Looks to have come out awesome and not as glossy of a black. Which I think looks great.

Thank you, I was not sure about the rugged surface, however I actually like it much more than before.

I'd get it for ya, since it's only about 40 minutes away, but then the shipping from Ottawa to Muskoka would also be enormous!!!!!!! :frusty:

Been dippin' stuff, getting used to the product. I just did my bumper corners. I'm doing everything I can to apply the coats properly according to what I've read here. I suppose it's never going to be smooth like standard spray paint.

But during my most recent attempt, I watched a new, warm, can periodically spew tiny bits and blobs from the spray head as I was applying the coat. Totally clean nozzle. Inverted can and blew-out the nozzle between coats. First time this can was used. Outdoor temps were in the 50's. I kept the can inside a warm shop between coats. Anybody else have this happen? What do you do to avoid it?

I'm looking for tips on how to get the smoothest finish possible....Thanks! -Kirk Out

    5 Coats, 15+min between coats-

only thing i can imagine is the cold. i've plastidipped a good amount of different rims for my cars and friends and they always come out looking smooth as babys butt. i have never warmed the can up either. but i also live in southern california and its always been in the 70's when i do it.
also, i always do it inside a garage or somewhere sheltered from the wind so that no debris blows into it while spraying. keep it a good distance away also. and i usually end up with some 8 coats and never wait that long in between. i spray a rim. then go on the next. and by the time i am back at the first rim i spray again. usually just a bunch of light coats probably 8 5-8 mins inbetween sprays.

I just used it as a clear coat. Apparently the more coats you add, the glossier of a finish you’ll get. That’s why I only went with two coats.
