    Went to do White and Gold Mountain trails up in Big Bear out here yesterday, got hit with a snowstorm on the way up and blew a CV axle right before getting to the trail head (was a used OEM axle I just had installed a few weeks ago). Never swapped out a CV axle before but luckily one of my TW friends on the trail helped me out, and I had grabbed my spare right before leaving the house that morning. We did the swap in under 45 minutes in the snow. Ended up doing the trail without issue.

    Didn't get too many trail photos because of the crazy wind. First one is where my axle blew and we swapped it out.

    Now that I look at it I think you’re right, I’ll move the clamp back. Trip was awesome, first time out of the country. It’s good to be back though.

    My lower hose had them, upper did not. Must’ve been changed before? I’ll see what Toyota wants for them. If it’s not too outrageous I’ll do that.

    Trying to figure out what to do with the blown OEM CV axle, is it worth it to rebuild them or just toss it? Not a blown boot, the inner joint went out.

    @SwampYota
    I beg to differ, I have used these on bike exhaust to, and you could crack the plastic collar if you wanted. Plus the dont wear out like spring clamps. I get mine from Mccaster Carr, they are readily avalible though.

    jesus I'm lucky to get 15mpg with slightly larger than stock tires, can't imagine what 35s would do to me. They do look awesome though.

    Damn, you must be in the SC hardcore haha. Also @Adude i agree tbolt clamps and constant tension clamps are both way better than work drive clamps that tend to dig in to hoses.

    I don’t do to bad on the highway. City kills me with the 35s though.

    I'm not to be honest, it's been a battle for me for the past year or so. When I first got my truck (supercharger already installed) I was getting 20mpg on the highway. It started getting worse with the mods (sliders, skids, 32" tires, etc.) which I expected but I didn't think it would get to be this bad. My last in-town tank I averaged 13mpg.

    I noticed the biggest hit happened after I got the 7th injector installed, for what it's worth. But yeah I'd love to solve that mystery, the typical tune-up mainentance has been done extensively to no avail.

    Well, haha you're getting the same MPG my Land Cruiser gets (and unfortunately is supposed to get 13-15). My Taco has gotten heavy over the years but still hovers near 17-20MPG depending on where I'm going. But it's a 4cyl so meh haha.

    im assuming you run 91 octane (or your equivalent) if not try putting some octane booster and fuel treatment. last time my truck did that i boosted the octane and ran fuel treatment with injector cleaner and it solved it plus a new fuel filter doesnt hurt

    Yup 91 octane only (makes the poor mpgs hurt even more lol), luckily I moved a few miles from work several months ago so it doesn't kill me.

    Put a new fuel filter in about a year ago...tried fuel system cleaners but haven't noticed any difference. Got a big jug of the Lucas stuff and used it every fill up for about a month.

    Sounds like the fuel and ignition piggyback you have might be richening the fuel mapping a wee bit more than is necessary. Have you thought of getting a Wideband to watch your AFRs?

    Yeah I picked up a gauge not too long ago, have to put it on still but I'm thinking along the same lines from the symptoms I've had. Cats had to be replaced late last year. I'll need to hit up Gadget to get the software to custom tune my 7th.

    you also have a stock bumper and weigh literally nothing haha

    I can relate. I've been driving my v6 single cab and it has a small fuel tank then my double cab. Only used 3/4 of a tank a week doing my 50mile commute daily plus around town vs an entire tank(literally on fumes) in the double cab haha
