How much smaller are the single cab tanks? I wonder if anyone's swapped a double cab tank over...

Single cab has like 15,5 gallon tank or so, it's not that much smaller and not that much of a big deal the frames are shorter so I don't think a double cab or extended cab tank would fit.
I have seen some people adding a 20 gallon gas tank back in the spare tire area I guess that's an option if you needed it. I get around 300 miles per tank

I think my manual said its 16 gal. So not much smaller. But still smaller. I've filled with 15.4 gal before so i was either cutting it as close as possible or I had a little leway.

The frame is shorter so you couldn't fit a bitter tank I think at least not without removing the spare wheel. Easier to carry a 5 gal jerry can.

That's about what I thought. I do plan on a swingout rear bumper eventually, so an auxiliary tank would be a nice way to use that empty spare tire space.

Gotcha. Not worth the trouble then.

yeah considering that its only like 2.5 gal larger. Jerry can is way easier.

Lots of cool ideas to do the spare tank in the wheel well area though.

Got my axle seal all put back together. Put new fluid in it too. Drove it Saturday and noticed a little little little puddle on the inside of the rim. Hopefully it's just some old oil or something, I'll rip it open tonight and see if I can fix it 100% without taking it 100% apart and redoing it

If you don't have abs, pull the little plug and see if there's oil past the seal. Drop a sting or paper towel in there and see if it comes out wet.

Replaced sway bar end links, transmission mount, and carrier bearing. 04 4x4 Tacoma V6 with 202k on it. Didn't need the mount, but bought it, so put it on. Others were way past ready!

did you notice a difference? I'm getting some vibes on the freeway. Some have said to check my u-joints. I' sure the Mt 35s don't help. I recently had the CB changed. no difference at all.

my throwout bearing has started chirping again after 30k kms, the previous one also started chirping loudly after only approx 30k. Only chirps when clutch is disengaged and goes away as soon as you touch the clutch pedal ever so lightly. That's two bearings in just a few years, both were good quality parts kits, why would this be happening after so few miles? is it too late to adjust the pedal or is it possible something else is causing premature bearing wear?

the clutch master and slave were replaced about 30k ago, i never ride the clutch, rest my foot on the pedal, hold pedal down unneccessarily, etc. trying to figure this out the noise drives me crazy

So does my '98. Most likely there was a change in the latter part of '97.

When I'm on E the most my tank ever takes is 15 gallons. I'm guessing that extra 3 gallons is still in the tank.

I have been wondering why my gas light or washer light never came on when either was low. When I did my 4WD swap and made the indicators I found out they never installed bulbs in those warning indicators in the first place.

Yet the ABS, RR Diff Lock, and 4WD light had bulbs but I didn't have any of them.
