So by the looks of it you want to keep the stance about the same? Looks good btw 3/6 on the 3rd gen 6112 might not be enough imo. I'm thinking 4 pass / 5 driver

 

Why would i use 3rd gen coils, I have a 2nd gen? I was thinking 3rd clip on the second gen 6112 specific coils on each side with maybe a 1/4” driver spacer.

 

Just got mine assembled with 700# springs in the 3rd notch, install tomorrow with refurbed LCA's. Pictures and update to follow.

 

Damn 700lb think your the only person I know running that. Look forward to the update.

LOL I guess the wheels threw me. So 4/3 then or like you said 1/4" on driver side. Exactly what I have, settled to 2" now.

any 2nd gen guys running 6112's at 0 or 1? Having read the entire thread it seems 3rd setting nets ~2"

initially i planned on putting a single AAL in rear matched to 5160's to keep it lvl but dont want to harsh up the ride with a single AAL. Canopy maybe in a year or 2, at which point i'd go full dakar pack, but till then, was thinking maybe the best option would be 6112 at 0 or 1, 5160s in the rear, stock leafs. Thoughts?

 

Got mine installed this weekend. 700# springs set on the 3rd notch. Also swapped out a set of refurbed LCA's at the same time.

 

I’m running 700# at 5th notch

Same stuff: Winch, plate bumpers, sliders, 1/4” IFS skids, dual battery. Fat belly. My wife says I have a tiny ass.

 

I think you need to go to the 4th setting for 2", i'm on 3rd and might have close to 1.75". So your not really looking for any lift?

 

Go with 4th or 5th clip setting. When everything settles you will be below 2" at 3rd setting.

 

That’s what I was thinking. I keep waffling between 3rd and 4th. I would like an excuse to get some TC UCA’s so I’ll probably just do 4th setting & let it settle for like 1000 miles before I get upset about it being “too tall” up front. But keep in mind I have a full rear Dakar leaf pack so I should be good.

 

i'm more concerned with road manners and handling on pavement/gravel roads. Right now i've got the stock SR5 suspension and a front spacer that came installed on the truck when i bought it, and it handles like wet oatmeal. I snagged some 16" ray10's and 265/75 cooper at3's, which are great but only go so far. I'd be ok with a little lift to take away stock rake, maybe second setting would get me there with 5160's in the rear and ~100 lbs of toolbox/tools in the bed?

 

So I pulled some measurements yesterday and after running my 6112's at #3 for almost 2 years and almost 30k miles, they're sitting at 21.5" in the front, hub to fender. I've lost almost an inch since install day. Not really complaining, as they still ride excellent. Seems to me like the chart from Bilstein is pretty dang accurate in regards to the 6112's after settlement:

 

it seems like #3 would be best to sit dead level with #3 in the front, 5160's in the back, and stock leaf pack?

i'm also considering a shell in a year or 2, maybe #2 would be the better setting?

 

#2 would sit level with the stock leaf pack. I set mine to #4 with the Dakar leaf pack, it started off a hair nose high and has now settled to slightly rear high (which is fine for me since I tow and don’t want to be nose high)
I’d go #3 if you put an add a leaf in the rear.
You’re gonna notice it will sit high after instal, Bilsteins dimensions are actually usually after a few thousand miles and settling

 

Thanks for the feedback. Did you keep the Dakar with all leafs or remove any, and if so, which ones?

 

Last weekend was the 700# and 6112's with rebuilt LCA's. The ice coast was not friendly to the LCA's and we ended up having to sawzall out the forward bushings on both sides.

This was after pressing the rubber portion of the bushing out. The two smaller ones popped out with heat like they're supposed to. Both larger ones went this route.
