@OVTune if you do adjust the touchy throttle aka tip-in (I don’t think it’s necessary...#unsolicitedadvice) it shall forever be know as 1.03-lite “Just the Tip”:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I let the truck idle for more then 15 minutes after flashing . By far the worst surge today .

This surging sounds very dangerous. Does anyone have videos?

This would be very helpful to figure out what you guys are mentioning. There is no surging issues on R&D truck.

I notice it also. It’s the same cold idle surge as stock except it now feels worse because of the extra power in the lower rpm range. Not as drastic, but similar behavior to my 65 mustang with a Detroit rocker cam - it kinda lunges.

Are you guys noticing this at very low RPM, like idle speeds? I am still on stock tune, mine is on order :) but for example, if I park in the driveway and later go out to move my truck into the garage after it's been sitting, I have to keep a heavy foot on the brake to ensure I don't get a surge and roll over the brick that prevents me from hitting my Harley that I have to park inches from to fit the truck in the garage. This would suck if the tune makes this surge worse!

Is the surging happening on the 91 tune? I'm running the 87 tune in NY (around 30 to 40 deg F), i let the truck warm up for 5 minutes in the morning before i go to work and i've never experienced the surging that other peeps have reported.

I also noticed a surge when idling when it's cold. Cold temps and cold engine. This did not happen on stock or 1.02, and did not happen for me after the truck warmed up with 1.03 that I noticed. Putting it into reverse caused some weird behavior as well that I would also describe as surging.

I've had it happen once in reverse, also cold temp. 87 tune. I had about 100 miles on the tune and wrote it off as needing to 'learn'.

Edit;. I let mine idle for 15 mins after flash.

So did anyone end up testing 87 vs 89 and 91? Just really curious about this.

I'm guessing there isn't much from 89 to 91 if that isn't pointed out in the faq either..

So has anyone had the surging, then reflashed, letting it idle for 10-15 minutes, and actually had the issue fixed? My truck had zero issues for about 300 miles. Then it started, but its also getting progressively worse. What is it learning and why would it continue to worsen? Its to the point now, where it will physically jump forward like you stabbed the gas for a split second.

I have been keeping up pretty well with the thread but apologize if I missed this being answered already.

Starting to think its time to make the 4runner switch :notsure:

No issues with surging. I did have a funky down shift from 4 to 3. Cold truck, was entering 45° Slow left turn, rpms dropped with speed and it downshifted violently, felt like someone ran in my rear bumper. Happened once

I notice the idle fluctuations when cold and backing out of garage. 1.02 did not do it but I remember the stock tune doing it. I figured it was due to not letting it idle after flash. Once I’m in drive I don’t notice it anymore.

I’ve had the surge, mostly in reverse prior to engine getting to operating temp. Have had it in D when turning at low RPM in parking lot. What I have experienced wasn’t dangerous, just unexpected. 1.03 flashed, 15 min warm up then 300 light driving miles. TRD OR DCSB stock tire size and no lift

Loving 1.03 power and shifting. Quirky throttle tip in and rpm surges aside. Would someone datalogging this help ?

Totally manageable. It’s not a tune issue. Just think, if this is what we are Complaining about then the tune is so worth it!
