Ask Hyundai about their dual clutches, or bmw about their smg’s. Not all transmissions are created equal by design alone. I aprreciate manuals because their parts are replaceable without much headache in a longitudal configuration.

As cvt’s go, nothing is more boring to drive. Step on the gas, weed eater. I honestly hate this trend with all my heart.

    Smg isn't dual clutch though.

I've owned a dual clutch 135i and a vw VW golf r. By design still a better than any CVT. Subaru really did a number putting it in a wrx.

Also I'm not referring to long term aspects but the drive. Like you said "weed eater" performance isn't my thing.

    My mistake, thought it was.

I’ll agree, cvt in a wrx seems sacrilagous to me. I’m definitely not a fan of where things seem to be headed but there will always be hard to find old gems around I suppose.

32k for a 100kw pack is quite expensive. Maybe someday it'll make sense for an electric tacoma.

Don't trust the salesmen most don't know what they are talking about. Sienna has never had a CVT transmission. A lot of manufacturers now have conventional transmission without a dipstick. We had a 2010 (5 speed auto) and now a 2017 (8 speed auto) and neither one was a CVT. Your 2014 is a 6 speed auto transmission.

When I owned my '16 Tacoma it would rev up for no reason even when driving at a steady speed down a level road a few times so I took it to the dealer to be checked out. Service adviser said they couldn't find anything wrong and that it was probably the CVT transmission and that it takes a bit to get use to it. When I told him the '16 tacoma has a 6 speed auto he was no way it is a CVT. Needles to say I never went back there and for what ever reason never had the spiking RPM issue again.

Thanks for the information on my Sienna. It makes me feel a little better that I may not have a CVT after all.
