Ok guys so I was thinking about buying another Tacoma with 4wd so I could keep up with you 4W guys at meets and stuff, but then I remembered that my mom's husband has an older Jeep... Long story short instead of buying a second Tacoma just for the 4WD I think I'm going to buy his jeep so I don't have 2 trucks... One strictly for more hardcore trails that the Prerunner can't go through. (not sure what exact year) but it's a 1980s jeep with a V-8 4 speed. Not sure if it's the CJ-7 or not either. It's a manual, and it only has about 80,000 miles. He's redone something's here and there to it like the fuel pump, fixed a leaking wheel cylinder, etc... The PO installed a lift and upgraded the tires. He said it runs really nice the only thing is that he doesn't feel comfortable driving it on the freeway. He drives a motorcycle and also a 18 wheeler so this has me confused... I was thinking maybe an alignment issue or the tires need to be balanced. What's your guy's opinion, Think I should buy it?

You don't need to waterproof grounds, I know that much. Hence why you can spot naked negative terminals and bare ground straps all over a modern car. ;)

They do have a point about positives though, you never see any bare positive wire anymore.

I'm just trying to hash out how to actually implement weather packs... use two 4x packs like @Rextinkleton93 did on his, or do some other arrangement.

It's probably got "Death wobble"- it's a peculiarity of solid front axles with worn bushings. Basically a bump to one side and the whole assembly acts like a pendulum jerking the wheel back and forth.

Replace the steering rack bushings and... some other bushing (forget which one) but it will go away.

I'm gonna google some video of it right now.

That might be what he was talking about, thanks... Going to try and test drive it this weekend so I'll see if it feels like that.

@Nitori I sure hope your documenting this switchpro install in a build thread, as it may be going down as the longest most talked about (by you) install of something that has been done thousands of times, has write up’s already made, and completed on average in half a day of drinking and Shananigans.

    Well done sir.

I had to tell a client they owed $19K in taxes.
    His response:
    "I'm buying two more pistols!!!"
Apparently he was smart and saved $29K in preparation of his taxes. My news was basically he gets a $10K refund he never gave to the IRS.

    Workin' on it....
Drove over some washboard tonight and some medium sized ruts that I'd have to take it easy on prior to the lift install and WOW.....for a budget lift those TRD Pro Bilsteins are night and day compared to stock....

Which has me thinking - and I know I just literally put the lift on yesterday but...if the Bilsteins are this good, then what is a King/ADS/Fox package like.....and then long travel.....

In all seriousness I'm going to enjoy my current setup for a few years now and work on tweaking some other things (front bumper, winch, bed rack etc.)

    Technical question:
For the rear shock mount upper nut the torque spec is 15 ft-lb. I tightened them only until it seemed the rubber bushings were mildly compressed because it seemed like the torque wrench would not click if I kept on going.

Is there a replacement bushing for the upper shock mount (Energy - maybe a polyurethane one that would be better?)

I was buying each individual piece but just said screw it and started order full kits. I think it costs like a dollar more per weather pack unit but dealing with shipping sucked.

Need 1 part for $0.30 but $7 for shipping so I end up buying $70 worth of shit to make the shipping feel better.

I'll stop talking about it until it is finished... :p

But seriously, a lot of this hand-wringing is down to two factors:
    (1) I'm missing a lot of my useful tools and supplies that are either not mine in the first place or in my "I can't bring this to AZ" pile that is sitting in my dad's garage
    (2) I have been mentally broken by EXHAUSTIVE wiring harness rewires in the Miata to be absolutely, positively, fucking insufferably anal about things relating to electrics.

It's one of those "stare into the abyss and the abyss stares back" kinda things:

I removed the airbag system, I swapped the ENTIRE DASH out for a more classic looking dash from a 1991 model, I installed a new steering wheel with new horn setup, I replaced the oil pressure gauge with an original style one with real readings, I fixed previous owner fuckups with the radio, I re-spliced and repaired improper splices, I added gauges, I made sure the HVAC had no strange gremlins from AC system removal, I re-wired the AC fan into the main fan relays, I fixed a kill switch... the list goes on.

I drove myself batshit, I had the full schematics sitting right there next to me and I made sure every last wire was right there where it should be and that nothing was crossed or mis-wired or poorly spliced.

And at the end of the day? NO check engine lights, no airbag warnings, no seat belt buzzers when there shouldn't be, no flickering, no gremlins, radio works great and sounds awesome, even lighting throughout the cabin, no fuss. Everything just works the first time, all the time.

$20 for 10. I don't think I'll be in phoenix anytime too soon.

    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/322124172864

You could buy from delcity but then you have to search for each individual piece and add to cart. Time savings is worth it to just buy on eBay. That link is where I got my last 10 pack.

    Mall landscaping pin stripes.
I am so going to over complicate the install of my Trigger system! I figure maybe I'll comment on each wire I terminate and elaborate in great detail over every strand of wire and precise jacket stripping.

OK, so I have an opportunity to make a few $$ and hang out with some nice chicks... and their pile of rug rats. Camping south... where to? 3 day adventure that will impress so the following weekend I can be repaid by more than just $$$!!! I do want to use a KOA for home base for showers and letting kids disappear without supervision. Tombstone?
