clanging noise in rear suspension

i've looked around searching for a thread that could help but i couldn't find anything. I've got a 2007 and have bilstien 5100s in the back with a 1" block and a set of super springs. whenever i go over a bump with at anything over 10-15mph or have anything in the bed that has any weight to it, it sounds like my back end is gonna fall apart, like a clanging noise. I'm thinking that if i take out the block and the super springs and get an AAL to replace it, it will fix my problem. i want to eventually add a coilover kit to the front so i will need to have 3" in the back to even it out. Any advice on AALs? i've looked at the ones ToyTec has but have heard of some other names but don't know much about them. Any other ideas of what could be causing this clanging noise?

I'm not exactly sure what's going on in the rear. How much lift do you have in the back now? Just the one inch or does the super springs offer lift? Because normally you need 3 inches up front to level with just 2 inches of lift in the rear; not three. If you go three, you would just maintain some factory rack. We do sell a 1.5 and a 2" AAL, both just 79.99. is the link to the 2 inch, the 1.5 follows that product.

What exactly do you mean by 'super springs'??

The first thing I would do, is crawl underneath your truck and look for anything thats coming loose on the suspension. I'd also look for any 'rub marks' where the suspension might be rubbing or bumping againest when you go over bumps. Also - the 5100's in the rear, did you get the proper length?

 

the super springs are supposed to be a suspension stabilizer(here's the link to their website
http://www.supersprings.com/supersprings_overview_general.asp) but i bought the truck with them already on it with the stock shocks. i went in and added the 5100s and i talked to somebody from ToyTec when i ordered them to make sure i got the right length. but ive been under and looked and everything is tight and nothing is rubbing

 

do you have you trailer hitch in the receiver i know mine clangs and clunks around if i don't take it out.

 

So, they're helper springs? Do you really need them? I'd take 'em off.....and see if your noise goes away.

 

the super springs have a shakle-like mount that goes from the helper spring, under the factory leafs. if there is any gap between the "roller" and the factory leafs (when at rest), then the noise may be it coming into contact with the roller hits the factory leafs, "engaging" the helper spring....here's a picture of the "roller" http://www.supersprings.com/images/supersprings_shackle.gif

EDIT: crawl under your truck. if there is a gap between the roller and the factory springs, if there is, i bet that's the noise. if the two are touching...it's probably something else (may still have to do with teh supersprings though).

 

Fyi for whoever mentioned the "right length" 5100's....all the 5100 for the tacoma are the same length. The 5125's offer multple lengths
