Would anyone know if there is a remedy of sorts to try and save this orange tree?

It’s fighting, but I know not for long. I’ve been cutting back the dead branches the past several years.

Try some sealer? They make an asphalt like substance that you paint on wounds. Dig down and apply as far down as you can. Other than that I can't think of anything.

Try some epsom salt sprinkled around the base in the spring. It acts like an aspirin with trees. Also helps the roots absorb nutrients in the soil for sweeter fruit. I’ve used it with my naval orange and satsuma’s with good results. Don’t prune so aggressively if can be helped since fruit grows first on last year’s growth. Hope this helps.

Yes, it helps tremendously. I’ll try both remedies as I have epson salt and will research the sealer.

    Thank you.

Still going strong. Should be on the downhill swing and closer to being finished than not.

So thrilled I haven't royally fucked my garden up. Again. Which makes me excited for the result. But a little waiting left to go. Hopefully they fatten up nice over the next few weeks.

Dirt. Water. And a fuck ton of light. Nothing else. Amazing how many books and websites there are. I knew I was reading/researching a bunch of crap and intended misinformation.

It looks like the bark on the base is gone for sure. If the cambium layer is removed all the way around the trunk it will die for sure. I'm guessing there is still some left on the other side of the tree or you would not have all the new shutes. There might not be enough left to keep the tree growing strong but keep it partially growing. I don't think there is any fix for it.

Thank you to all that gave advice. I’ve decided just to let it go and be. It has a good amount of blooms. Fingers crossed.

Mounding fast. Covered the leaves with cardboard as we were in the high 30’s in the evening earlier this week.

Anyone have to deal with groundhogs? Went out to my property and saw some decent sized holes and I'm guessing that's what they are from. They're actually wyoming ground squirrels, but the same idea, just higher elevation.

My plan for the greenhouse was raised beds anyways, so a quick thought was that i could just set the posts, then put chain link fence on the ground so hopefully that would deter them. And the same around the outside to protect the plastic, or just put wood up the first foot and a half or two feet.

Waiting for the ground to thaw a little more since digging for posts in rocky AND frozen tundra isn't ideal.

Only have 5 acres and there's houses around so i doubt it. Sure i can piss them off with a backhoe. But as long as they mind their own business...

gamo whisper pellet gun;) or Ive heard some people get a heavy catfish rod and some 80lb braided line and put a loop around the active hole and snare them;) they eat greens so you will have to deal with them at some point.

My garden is 22x44, 8ft fence, no boxes, 7 rows 3ft wide, This year I am trying a drip system with plastic to keep the weeds down.
I only buy from Victory Seeds. All their stuff grows and it has rare, open-pollinated, no GMO seeds. I grow the oldest seeds that they offer(example date back to 1889) . The prices are decent I feel.
I use Azomite, some Epsons salt (I know its a myth) and wood ash in my soil.

Here is what I'll be growing this year:

Stevia, its a plant to replace white sugar

    Little Gem Butterhead Lettuce
    Lollo Rosso Leaf Lettuce
Salad Bowl, Green - Leaf Lettuce

    Black Beauty Eggplant

    Dark Green Zucchini Summer Squash
    Vegetable Spaghetti Winter Squash
    Waltham Butternut Winter Squash
    Grey Zucchini Summer Squash
    Green Striped Cushaw Squash

I'm looking to dry beans & freeze other veggies to last the winter of 2018-2019 .

I just had a huge tree fall last weekend and wipe out my fence & some posts. NJ looks to be hit with 10-20 inches of snow so this will slow my repairs down a bit.

My new setup for cleaning veggies: 2 tables, 1 of the tables will have a 110volt jet pump hooked up w/PVC pipe into a large bucket to create bubbles to wash veggies outside. The other table will have fans over head to dry items outside in my lean to. Tired of the mess in the kitchen.

I had that same problem too. But so far so good.

Can someone please tell me what’s the best thing to do on the final mounding?

mats, flaps, and stickers. Extang solid fold 2.0. Mobtown sliders and full skids. AVS vents
See below, if legal, get a pellet rifle.

Otherwise, metal fencing around the perimeter, with a foot or two buried. If they are still a problem, and you can’t shoot, there are several traps available that will work. I’d suggest contacting the wildlife agency in the state to get their opinion/blessing before doing anything.

All the sprays, homemade remedies, etc etc, are most likely a waste of time.

PM me if you want to discuss further.
