Does the Tacoma have a "low windshield washer fluid" light in the instrument cluster?

Hello. I ran out of windshield fluid yesterday and there was no warning light on my instrument cluster. Does the Tacoma have one? Maybe it's so cold that the sensor froze if there is one there? I did refill and the spray nozzles work as they should so there was nothing frozen in there.

On a side note, I love that a full gallon container fits in one shot. All my other cars I always had a little left over in the bottle and have to save it for future use.

 

Wow, that's actually pretty insane. Never had a car in my life that didn't have the light (I've had over 20 cars).

But I guess it's a good thing....one less thing to break so I like that.

 

Canada models have it.

 

Insane I tell ya!! No washer fluid level indicator? How do they expect us to operate and maintain these things?

 

it's different when you're in the northeast and use it about 10-20 times a day due to salt/snow etc.

and when it's -6 degrees outside you're not really looking to open the hood every few days to see whether you need to refill.

 

We've had an unprecedented cold wave here in the midwest and I popped my head under the hood to check.

The damn radiator fan felt like it was blowing ice cold air conditioning on me. Such a strange feeling when you're used to popping the hood and feeling engine heat. Turns out the reservoir holds a pretty decent amount of washer fluid.

 

Yeah I was very happy to see that a full bottle of washer fluid fit in one shot.

 

One thing here. Most cars in the past many years have their washer reservoirs buried down low some where with just the filler cap showing. The Taco's entire res is visible when popping the hood. So, there is no real need for a sensor.

Amazing we survived without low fluid sensors, low tire pressure sensors, and back up cameras. Humans really amaze me!! /s

On a serious note - its a Toyota pickup truck. Not a Lexus SUV. It does not, and should not come with all the same level of "nice" creature comforts as a luxury car. If it did, it would be $15K more and have an "L" badge on it.

Seriously though why did they design the picture and write the code for the Multi Info Display and put in a sensor and run the electrical, then only have it for Canada?? But hey we get blessed the Maintenance warning lights and messages and they don't...dumb

 

My 1997 Dodge Dakota had a low washer fluid indicator and my 2017 Tacoma doesn't . . . WTF ???

BTW my Dakota also had a place to hand the gas cap when filling up, the Tacoma doesn't.

I just bought a GASSHOLE . . . .

I mostly never used that thing for what was intended. I have always cleaned it really well and put clean drinkable water in the reservoir to have water to drink just in case. AZ is HOT in the summer time and never know when stranded or without water.

 

How many of these 20 cars had the washer light/sensor break. This is simply cost savings on Toyota's part.

Some of these trucks are over $40K. We are talking a low washer fluid light, not self parking or massaging seats.

 

my 2000 Tacoma has a low washer fluid light...mostly annoying.

 

Dude, the fluid is right there when you open the hood.

 

New 4Runner does not have it either. Oh the humanity....

 

Yes it is and its ok to do that year round when u live in California. I live in PA where I have constant snow and ice from October to April. So opening the hood in the winter just to check the washer fluid is a real PITA. I don't mind opening it when its empty. All I'm saying it would have been nice to have a low fluid warning light...

 

It holds more than a gallon, thats for sure. It always bugged me on my GM it held like 7/8ths of a gallon, so stupid lol.
