That's what I'm worried about. Not that it won't detect an obstacle or pedestrian, but that it will conjure up one in its computer mind. Reading through the disclaimers in the owners manual really makes you wonder if the damn thing will cause more accidents than it can prevent.

I won't. It's just mumbo jumbo the leagle eagles put in there for an easy escape from potential lawsuits.

While I agree with you on that, there still seems to be a reasonable chance that it will slam the brakes every now and then...

Can't debate that it won't since there's always that risk, however big or small it is.

Any one have a 2018 with the TSS replace their windshield? I was going to do it through safelite but at the end they asked if i want the ADAS re-calibrated which costs an additional $300 bucks.. I dont really want to spend that much more and im not sure if its necessary?

Many of the 2017 models are now equipped with a forward recognition camera, which is part of the adaptive cruise system. When the windshield is replaced, the camera unit will need to be calibrated. This procedure is located in the vehicle-specific service manual under Engine / Hybrid System > Cruise Control > Front Camera > Adjustment (Sequential Recognition).

If your dealer or insurance co offer windshield insurance, BUY IT.

A good friend of mine had a goose fly into his windshield. $6,000 in damage. No damage to anything but the windshield and TSS.

the adaptive cruise control is pretty awesome though...great for long trips and never having to touch the pedal bc the vehicle senses another one in your lane and slows to match their speed, then once you have a clear lane again it speeds back up to the pre-selected speed setting

It's a plus and a minus.... because I occasionally find myself doing 55 because I've come up on Grandma on the interstate and have been behind her for the last 6 miles. On the plus side is that you can be in traffic doing 55 and set it, then bump the speed setting to 70 and it will increase the speed as available until you find yourself doing the target speed.

Just a word of warning, though it may sound obvious.

Don't use lane departure if you can't see the lines on the road (if it's snowing for example)

Currently fighting Toyota over this exact issue with mine. Had the truck slam on the brakes at 70 MPH on the freeway with nothing anywhere in front or (thankfully) behind me. Scary stuff!

Was talking to the shop foreman the other day about the TSS - he said it is a PITA to calibrate. Had to build a special room with white sheets so there were no oddball contrasts. Even it you get a mirror replaced, it is a 2 hr. job to calibrate it!

Yeah, I am hoping this buyback goes fast enough to snag a 4Runner in my area before they are gone. I will just need a trailer to go with it I guess o_O

Had my windshield replaced this week and I did not remove my original Go Pro mount thinking the glass guys would just reuse it... I was wrong!!! They stuck a cheap fake Amazon mount up there with black silicone! Anyone know where I can find a factoy GoPro mount???
