What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

yeah. Lighter means you can blip the rpms up faster and drop faster. Few guys on here have the heavier one and like it though.

FWIW I like my marlin clutch, it's all good parts and it holds up to my 4banger clutch dumps

 

yeah they just have a hard time keeping them in stock.

 

It took me a little over 2 days. But I was going slow, cleaning everything I could get to while I had access. I had to make a bunch of runs for parts, fluids etc. Was working on it at home so every time a honey do came up I had to stop... etc.

Make sure to get him a crank pulley bolt. Toyota recommends every time that is removed, it needs to be replaced. If he's going to replace the crank seal, he should replace the bolt... it's, like, 12 bucks at the stealer-ship.

 

its been over 100k since the previous owner replaced the engine and clutch during the frame replacement. idk if they used the stock flywheel or what so i'll order a slighter heavier one and what till and see what happens when i get the clutch replaced. that way when i replace the clutch and the flywheel needs changed i have it and minimize the down time. and if its good i can return it and get the money back or keep it.

New wheels and tires today. Stayed after hours and put them on today after work.
Need to pull the bedsides soon.

 

That's why I asked rather than guess.

If it is about droop from leverage with the arm open and full weight, it may be too early to tell. At least for mine it took over a full season of wheeling it, before it started to flex and droop a little bit.

 

I still think you should let me weld a telescoping foot to yours now. I'm trying to engineer the hell out of my swingout to avoid it bending and drooping but there's just too much weight that goes unsupported on the other end, so now it's all about minimizing it :/

Yup that's the plan so far, it's not the fuel weight that's a game changer though, it's the weight of a 35" D rated mud tire on a steel rim that's throwing my SolidWorks stress tests to shit.

 

A telescoping foot? Not sure I know what that is.

And I've been trying to get you to weld shit on my truck for a couple of years now.

 

Just like a robust monopod at the end to help hold weight.... also yeah I dropped the ball there... on the bright side I may be back in the area soon enough to see that it gets done
