On my way to work this morning, another vehicle crossed the center line and hit me head on. Six airbags deployed, so I'm thinking it's probably totalled. It's the first brand new vehicle I've ever purchased. No one was hurt, everything else can be replaced.

Damn. Glad to hear everyone made it out. Speaks to the safety features of modern cars. And yeah, everything else can be replaced.

Glad to hear your Toyota kept you safe. What part of the country are you in? The storms rolling through the Northeast today are supposed to be nasty.

I'm in Michigan. It's snowing pretty good here. It was a 16 year old girl that hit me on here way to a FFA meeting. It seems to me school should have been cancelled, but what can you do?

Bring it to the school boards attention. Had the girl died, they would have a lawsuit up their ass for not closing school when roads are clearly unsafe.

It happened in my AO when I was a teen. Teen girl wrecked and died, due to icy roads, on the way to school one morning. School system was sued by her parents for millions and won. Protocol was changed and if there was the least little bit of snow, they called school off from that point on.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but I cannot understand how your airbags deployed and mine did not.

Yours does look worse. They did not total my truck. 14k for repairs.

Same reason mine didn't go off and it did $12k in damage...the computer determines deployment based on a number of factors - speed, velocity, g-forces, etc etc

Your crash looks similar, but is not as bad. Most of your damage is above the frame rails which is where the airbag sensors are. That area between the front of the grill and the radiator core support is designed to crumple just as yours did. Airbags go off when the distance between sensors change.

His definitely looks worse But I don’t see how your airbags wouldn’t have gone off either. My old 4Runner’s airbags went off and it had much less damage than yours.

OP-glad everyone is ok. Crazy those lights are still working.
