Does it all really depend on where you live? Because Dealers invoice prices they are showing me includes Destination 995, and TDA for 500 whatever that means. So the invoice prices are a good 500 more than what NADA is showing. But reading on TW, it seems people somehow are getting way under invoice sometimes. I have really good negotiating skills and I've put 2 deposits down already and got refunds for better prices. I'm in Connecticut.

Every dealer in my area has been selling cars at invoice for the last few years it seems. They are all remodeling and creating beautiful buildings, Ad's running nonstop on the radio and TV. There's a ton of money to be made at invoice.

Was just reading this thread and I can relate:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/what-is-tda-fee.406505/

Seems many on here claiming "invoice" probably aren't accounting for things like TDA fees considering not all dealerships in all regions have it. And most likely the dealers have different ways of making up what they consider their invoice price. So my price before those fees is 100 below invoice, which matches NADA.

Destination/delivery is part of invoice/MSRP. Those should be included in the prices people are listing here.

My truck's MSRP was $36,063 with an invoice of $33,415. I paid $32,063. Its a 2018 that I purchased in December of 2017. I had been emailing/texting that dealer for about 2.5 months prior to purchasing. It takes a little effort, but worth it in the end!

How is this possible? You must live in a state with great taxes and the dealer really wanted it gone! I hate CT.

I don't think they wanted it gone, it had just came in. It had 5 miles on the ODO, they had not even put their dealership stickers on it yet.
But yeah, I thought 3K under invoice was great, plus 0.0% financing.

Ok so that answers my question if the invoice talk here included the 995 dest fee. Thats good to know. Around here, the dealers consider their invoice price of vehicle invoice + dest fee + TDA fee.

Toyota only has 0 financing on the '17s. How did you get that on an 18? I'm getting 2.29 with A+ credit from a credit union.

must be regional. Don't have that around here. Whatever 2.29 aint bad! I'm more amazed at you getting 3k under invoice. I almost wanna say somethings wrong or missed there, but I really don't know. Or high volume dealer? Not negating your negotiating skills, its just that compared to up here its amazing!

So that invoice assumes the dest fee as well. Thats a great deal! Looks like I need to pay about invoice as its the best I'm getting.

Yup yup my invoice above includes the $995 dest fee. The dealer offered me $4k off MSRP for any 2017 or 2018 Tacoma. I figured might as go with the 2018 as it wasn't much more than a leftover 2017.

Man I really think a lot of this stuff is regional. Northeast sucks.

For me, not too bad but not great:

    MSRP: $37,418
    invoice: $34,645 (NADA)
invoice for dealerships around me that all include TDA fee: $35,202

    Selling Price: $34,581.24
    Out the Door: $36,552.00

So I got a few hundred off invoice.

Documentation fee is an important factor to take into consideration when purchasing an new Tacoma. Doc fee is not part of the invoice price of the truck, it is the fee that the dealership charges to type-up and file the paperwork when your purchase your truck. In California, the doc fee (by law) is set at $80, other states do not have a doc fee limit and can add $1000 for doc fee. So if one person said he got $500, under invoice, and the dealer is charging $1000 in doc fee, they really purchased the truck for $500 over invoice.

Yes, but thats doc fee. We are talking detination fee which is 995 and THAT is whats included in the invoice.

Destination fee for everyone is $995 (except for people in SE, and Gulf State region, which is slightly more) and cannot be changed by dealership. It is a required fee that is part of the invoice price. Doc fee, on the other hand, is not part of the invoice price and is a variable fee.

I think the confusing thing is on some of the excel spreadsheets in this thread it only lists the invoice NOT including the 995 dest fee. So originally I thought I was over invoice when I wasn't.

I would not consider the doc fee part of invoice. Like TTL, a doc fee can vary greatly from state to state and even county to county. For example, my TTL/doc was $388 for my rig. Dealer next door to mine wanted $400+ for TTL/doc. Also, most online resources I’ve seen don’t list doc fee under invoice or MSRP. My 2 cents.
