I met a commercial fisherman from obx area this weekend and talked with him a bit. It seems a lot of those tournament fish and wicked tuna fish are found attached to bouys for a reasonable price. :ohsnap:

It depends there are some pretty desperate tournament fishermen and some dirty commercial fisherman that are willing to do anything for a W or $$$ and most of those guys are the boys that are loosing the tournaments. Having fished in some of the big Marlin tournaments and other tournaments there are a lot of "referee/judge" boats out there looking for stuff like this. In some of the even bigger tournaments to not sully the name of the tournament with a scandal like that they will put a judge on each boat or have a chase boat with each boat. Just to make sure everything is done on the up and up and that illegal fish aren't being kept etc. There will always be those trying to game the system. As for the TV thing I don't doubt it because stuff like that makes for good TV I would even bet to say that some of the channels were behind that and not necessarily the fisherman on the show.

I fished a KMT where one of the guys tried cheating but got caught, he went out of the boundaries for the tournament.

Yep that is why the Big Boy tourneys are cracking down big time like the Big Rock. FLW has a chase boat with every angler now a days just for that reason. Jackasses just make it harder for everyone. The place I bought my Yak from the guy helping me fishes in the Yak bass fishing tournaments and he was telling me now the sactioning body issues all the measuring boards because guys were modifying their boards to measure longer and win tournaments. People are sad they can't win the hard way or earned way they got to cheat. "cough" Brady "cough"

No thanks. You can keep all that.

I’m trying to talk one of my coworkers and her husband into going on the trip in April. Idk if they will though.

I have a buddy who does tuna fishing up north commercially. He said the wicked tuna folks will tie cinder blocks to their line and record it like they are fighting a fish.

Would be fun, but I’ve got a bachelor party and wedding to be in at the end of April. (Not mine)

Is the fishing from Knowles pier any good or do you pretty much have to have a boat? Maybe planning the trip!!

Not sure how good the fishing is at Knowles Island Pier as ive only been very recently and the fishing in the whole area hasn’t been good from the cold and recent fish kills. But I can tell you that the pier is an awesome one to fish from with all the additional structure plus the ability to be able to go down to the shoreline and walk either side of it and fish from there. I’ll see how the weather is this weekend and go down there and do a video walk around to share.

If you’re coming and want me to pick you up a rental kayak, let me know so I can reserve it. Goes for anybody coming down without a kayak and wants one...

Should just bring my boat. It's old it can get a little salty. Gave her a good makeover last spring. Normally a crappie boat but she is versatile!!

I came across this picture this morning, I believe it was taken yesterday. It is Highway 12 between Oregon Inlet and Hatteras.

There’s a ramp just up a bit from Knowles Island so good to go there...and there’s public ramps all over the place down here so anywhere we fish would be accessible.

Moved this topic here to keep it out of the quad thread.

I should have some cradles for my Thule bars on my trailer coming today. I’m thinking I might have enough room for J-Cradles on one side if needing to add a second yak to the trailer.
