I figured the truck to be $27,500 ($500 over invoice) with the following options:

    DZ-6 disc w/steering wheel controls
    OC-TRD off road
    TO-towing package
    CF -carpet floor mats

So the question is what is the invoice on the following options/add ons ?:

    WT-window tint
    GL -tailgate lock
    DG-color keyed door edge guards
    SD-skid plate
    P4-vehicle shield package

Window sticker on these options was $1100, but keep in mind that I got an extra $650 on my trade in according to my used car dealer friend (2000 Honda Accord 130k) which brought the trade to $4,900. Truck price after trade $23,800 or $25,516.55 out the door. I'm sure I could have spend more time and effort visiting different dealers and saved more money like you did, but currently I don't have the luxury of extra time. I am self employed so for me, TIME=MONEY.

Thats a sharp color, especially with black accesories. That is one of the colors that doing the headlight smokeing mod is a must. I love that color but i had my heart set on black. I think black trucks looks mean, especially the 2nd gen taco. The biggest problem so far is that it is impossible to keep clean and every littel nick and scratch shows up like a neon sign. Good choice on the color though, i know it turns heads when you drive down the road (i know i always stare) :) Congrats! and once again, when you add on accesories.... go black, i can't stress that enough. Glad you're official now!

mine was 26.5k out the door, but i didnt opt for any audio upgrades, or vsc or any of that stuff. I have the TRD offroad, automatic, 4x4, sr5, v6, double cab, tow pkg, offroad floor mats (free) and maybe some other stuff i forgot. you can get a nice truck for between 26 and 27 if you don't opt for all the luxury stuff, thats where they get you

Thank you and yes it is now mine;) I am an official Taco owner now...!!! Finalized the deal yesterday. I have already hooked up my sirius satellite radio, but I need to figure out a place to mount it. Any suggestions??? Right now I just got it sitting in one of the cup holders...

On a side note, I had NO IDEA that this truck had so much storage behind and underneath the rear seats...!!! I am very happy about that:thumbsup:

Thanks and no worries. I feel the same about red. I like the color, but I will never own another red vehicle. I once had a red sports car and I got too many tickets!!! I got pulled over 3 times in the first two weeks!

LOL... Go ahead!!! I'm sure your girlfriend will approve;)

yeah, i got that reaction too. I just gave them my business card and told them to call me if they reconsidered and walked out, most of them called. However, i ended up only dealing with a few of them. It can definately be done, at least in this region, things may differ in different parts of the state. I made sure to let them know that the price i was giving them was not a lowball price to start negotiations, i told them that was what i was willing to pay, period. I also refused to pay any unreasonable fees. i think there was a $200 dealership fee i had to pay but that was included in my otd price. They had to drive my car in from a neighboring state and tried to charge me a $500 transport fee. I stood up to walk out, i told them i knew where the vehicle was and i would spend $50 in gas to drive up there and buy it from another dealership before i paid them 500 bucks. They told me to sit back down and that they would drop the transfer fee. Just let them know you're not afraid to give your money to another dealership.

The dealership wants you to spend your money there more than you want the truck (that is if they are not idiots). Throughout my deal they kept using the phrase "what can we do to earn your business" because I told them I was already talking to another bigger dealership. Even when I went in to sign papers with the finance manager, he told me he could beat my banks finance rate by .2% I told him that wouldn't work. He asked "what can I do to earn your business?" and I told him to beat my bank by at least a point he beat their rate by 1.2%. That saved me approx. another $650 or more in interest over the life of the 5 year loan. So everything is negotiable, even the finance rate;)

I figured out all the financing on an online calculator, dropped it in an Excel spreadsheet, printed it, took it with me for reference, but did not show them any of my paperwork. I kept it all tucked neatly in a folder with my other figures. I knew exactly how much I wanted financed, and was willing to put the rest down to save on financing and to keep my payment low.

Also another thing to consider is if you want the extended warranty. This is something I had not thought about before I went in. They offered 6 yr/100,000 mi extended warranty for $1,570. I drive a lot, so I went ahead and took the extended warranty because I could hit 36,000 miles in about a year or two, and the extended warranty is a great selling point if you ever try to sell it (and buy another Taco of course!!!) or if I pass it on to a family member which gives me peace of mind (I have done that before). The factory warranty is 3yr/36,000 on the truck and ??years/60,000 on drive-train. I did not get the GAP, or any of the other life insurance or disability that they offered. I don't think it was worth it.

You paid $26.5k otd on that configuration? And you were being a dick to your dealer on top of that? Either you are full of crap or that is one dumb dealer who made earned himself a loss on the deal.

Sorry to dissapoint you but i'm not full of crap, if i had a scanner i'd upload the reciepts. Plus, being a dick is the only way to deal with a carsalesman. He still made a couple hundred bucks off the deal and put another notch in his belt, he said i was his first sale for august. My dad got an exterra for dead even invoice price. The sales guy said he wasn't makeing any money, off the deal, but the dealership he worked for gave all paid cruises to the top sellers and he needed to sell that truck to my dad to help push him over the top. My best friends sister works for the dealership i got the truck from. She couldn't hook me up but she gave me the invoice price, which was 25k and some change, so thats how i knew what price range to shoot for. plus, when i say i was a dick, i don't mean i was calling him names, i just meant that i was very firm and walked out more than once. Deals are out there you just have to be patient and not care what the sales guy thinks of you. You know you got a good deal if the salesman hate you at the end of it.... but hey, it's another check next to his name on the sales board

You are an inspiration in my time of salespeople not wanting to work with me on the price!!! LOL- Its so hard to walk out on them when you want the truck so bad! lol.

I am waiting for a salesman to call me back- i told him to call me back if he can do better than 29k out the door.
