just pulled into the dealership. Over the summer i had the radiator crack and replace under warranty. No heat this morning and on the drive home in the afternoon she overheated and had to shut it down. Its rainy with sleet but i dont see any coolant on the ground.

Assuming this is the first time since you replaced the radiator, I would check if there is anything in the radiator/puke container. If all seems normal I would say the likely culprit is a bad thermostat.

If the water pump isn't making a odd noise I would rule it out. The thermostat is probably not opening if there is nothing in the puke tank and no heat in the cab.

Might want to have the coolant tested for combustion gasses. if there is no coolant in the recovery bottle you have issues it had to go some place. let the engine cool down and pull the radiator cap and check the coolant level. if its extremely low call the dealer, if its a little low take it to the dealer. What ever you do don't add coolant unless you call the dealer first. Otherwise you get the "looks full to me."

Nasty !! Make sure you warranty up everything that overheated . Keep in mind that when your engine overheats , your transmission will also overheat . The engine cools your trans .

Lack of heat is often a sign of no water in the cylinder head, just steam going into the heater core. Often leads to warped heads and head gasket leaks.

That is some bad luck. I don't think I've ever heard of a radiator going so quick. Have the dealer check compression and change out all engine/trans fluids (if they haven't already). I initially thought the thermostat had been stuck closed, but this is a much worse situation...

How do i get all that covered? It was a short driving distance for the overheat. Pulled over and waited. Then 1/4 of a mile to dealer. I hope the heads didnt warp.

I can't tell you what your dealer will or won't do. But I've found if you don't take the initiative and just sit back and do nothing, like anything else in life, you will most likely get screwed.

OP, also bring up an extended warranty as well.

I have an exteded bumper to bumper warranty. The overheating issues are caused from a bad radiator that has now cracked in the same area.

I will get the radiator and take a picture of it. A problem with the engine will not cause a radiator to crack. Since the first swap over there was never a problem with the engine until this new radiator cracked again.

If its cracked twice in the same spot might have to do with how its mounted?
