No sir. It's native to the East coast. It came out of a house that was built in the late 19th century/early (real early) 20th century.

Definitely white oak and from some online comparisons I believe it is Swamp White Oak.

It has the same characteristics and rays (the darker lines?)

I'll get another pic once I get the chance to clean it up.

Retrimming out a school to bring it close to historic specs. Here’s a column not finished all the way yet but coming along good.

It is some pretty cool stuff that’s for sure. We are getting some pieces that are so rippled with grain that we can’t use it. Would make a awesome cutting board or something

Architect doesn’t want to much color variations in the wood. I personally think that’s what makes it beautiful.

Added another bench plane to the collection. A Stanley #2. Picked it up on ebay. Definitely a user, but all of my planes are users.
Just need the #1 to complete the collection, however i'm having a hard time spending $1k on such a tiny tool.

And next to a #4 for reference.
