Sounds like you are living in Hawaii, famous dealer words "can't duplicate symptoms, that's normal, the service manager will get back to you".........wish I could take to my mechanic, he only works on Toyota and Lexus...even new ones.

You know the running rough and sounded like shit and all those lights/ warnings is exactly what happened to the guy with the aftermarket air filter problem. His cylinder # 6 intake manifold flap broke off or something crazy.

Sounds like the cps sensor to me also op.
But that may be the good news, the bad news is the dealer prob won’t or can’t do much if its not doing it when they check it.

It may be best to open a case with corp and explain your concerns as i’m sure they should be familiar with the problem by now.

    Good luck

    loose gas cap?

I freaked out about mine when it threw a bunch of codes the first week. Turns out one of Oregon's finest gas pumpers (hey now, I have my favorites at the Safeway--props to them) forgot to turn the cap all the way to the first click. It wreaked havoc on my Taco...my wife (the ex-car salesperson) diagnosed it in 5 minutes. Crow eaten, and NOT as delicious as you might think

Damn dude don’t know what to say, I would push the dealership to give you a new one.

I would start say the problem has to be something like a bad fuel pump, but man it was running perfectly for whole day which leads me to think computer system perhaps too many codes for such a new rig

    OME and worth every penny.
I was told by Toyota (on a problem with a Lexus) that it is common for the Trac Control light to come on with an engine code that puts the ECU in open loop.

No use for Trac-Con when engine isn't running right.

Have you replace anything since you purchased? Perhaps swapped the factory gas cap with a locking one? If so, try putting the factory cap back on and clearing the codes.

    Updates!!
Got the truck back Monday afternoon, (no surprise Kendall did not call me by noon like they promised). Talked with the Shop Foreman who was super honest and seemed genuine. The problem was the variable valve timing, I guess there is an "oil pressure control valve" that gets gummed up with some new grease they are using on the 2018s. Now, I'm translating here but the gist is there is a bolt that sleeves a pin, this pin moves in and out of the bolt and varies the oil pressure to retard or advance the timing. He called his regional service lead who clued him into the potential problem. Sure enough when he pulled the cover on one of the control valves it was jammed, while the one adjacent was moving freely. He cleaned the pin and bolt and re-installed and the engine ran like it should. The warranty obviously covered everything, they billed about 2 hours on the repair and diagnosis. I've included pictures below of the location of this valve.

I confirmed the control valve malfunctioning did not rob the cylinder of oil, it strictly deals with the timing of the camshaft. He says it would not have caused any lasting damage, and should not rear its head again. Time will tell. He said I was the first he'd seen with this problem and the regional guy had only seen a handful of 2018s with similar issues... I'm optimistic that the problem is solved, and hope to get back to spending money on important things like bed racks, lift kits, etc!

-He did mention the 2018 Tundra is getting a twin turbo version of the same engine... Not a tundra guy, but that sounds sweet.

That makes sense, I was scratching my head trying to toggle the TRAC on and off.

Also, forgot to mention he is certain it is not the CPS issue again, even though I pressed him that it was all the same symptoms. He was well aware of that debacle and said the 2018s have an entirely new part number for the CPS. There was a part number for the original bad CPS, then a new one for the replaced CPS, and finally a brand new part number on the one in the 2018s.

This is a relief, I can't image what some of these guys had to go through having the engine stall out on a freeway... That's scary...
