I would like to keep my stock 17" rims (just like the black ones you had) but go to 285's-
    - will they rub AT ALL if I only go 4"? -
Can't do it, you'd at least need spacers. You need 4.5" of backspacing to clear.
    - do I need new struts for the front with 4" spindles? - Not sure here. I don't think so, but 5100's are so cheap I'd never skip out on this.
    - do I need Dakar heavy duty or regular for the back + extended length Billies? - No idea. Marie should know this.
    - do I need CB drop with only a 4" lift? - I think so. Marie can verify.
    - basically what's my optimum set up for keeping my 17" and going to 285's? - Gut feeling says 4" spindles on stock springs with an AAL in the back and you'd be dead level and clearing 285s with minimal trimming.

If I decide to go to 6" (or is it 6-1/2")-
    - will it look stupid with the 17" + 285"? I believe you ran this setup for a little while correct? -
Yes. Never skip leg day, bro.
    - good idea to add Billies to the front with the HBS strut spacers? - Skip the spacers, just get springs. You're already in there, and springs are a couple hunnit.
    - all I will be adding is a 2" block to the Dakars in back correct? - Not sure here, I'm on 4" Blocks on stock springs for now. Custom leaf packs will come later.
    - CB drop? - Mandatory.
    - drive shaft spacer? - Mandatory.
    - anything else I'm missing? - The HeadStrong Maxtrac 6" "Kit" will cover you. From there it's a matter of do you want to add springs or change shocks.

Thanks bro! So you're on a 6" lift also? I can get the 6" in the front I need without spacers by using taller coilovers?

I know your photo from this post is a year old, but what size wheels/ tires are you running with your 4" in this picture?

Leo4x2, when you first did your 6" didn't you run your stock 17" TSS for a bit? All you added to your 4" to get to 6.5" was HBS 2.5" spacer in front and 2" block to the Dakars out back, correct?

I'm around 6.5" in the front, 4" in the back currently. I used OME coils (from Marie), I hate suspension spacers.

If you scroll back through this thread I probably put more details. It's been a while so I may not remember everything off the top of my head, but I believe this thread is the place to be.

If I just looked at that pic at random, I would never guess that dinky little thing was from a brand new truck. It looks like it needs a sandwich.

I just have a 4" block because I don't care. I'll do custom leaf packs later, but that's not a priority, and Dakars can't get the height I need without adding, so they were pointless to me. As a bonus, I get to piss off "purpose built" purists with the blocks even more than I already do with my monster 2WD on 35 MT's lol.

I don’t tow anything anymore and never have a heavy load in the bed; usually just myself and my daughter so the normal Dakar pack did it for me and I gained 3” of lift from that along after installation. After adding the 2” blocks to it I have total of 5” in the rear.

Man, dealing with Marie@Headstrong, for me, has been a pain in the ass. For whatever reasons, she will only communicate via email, which really slows the process. I could have asked (and had answered) all the questions I had with one or two phone calls. Instead, I'm on day three of email threads going back and forth so I can make sure I order the right sh*t...

    She suggested this- https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s...0_Lift_Coil_and_Dakar_Leaf_Pack_Lift_Kit.html

But it's for '05-2015. I'm assuming it will work on the 2016's??

Unexpected, but bound to happen eventually. I prefer email because everything is documented, so dealing with her was great, and she was more than helpful.

In her defense, after I expressed my frustrations she did include their number, and explained that they are a small shop and get lots of calls. I'm out of town until Tuesday but will be calling to order then. Been a process but I'm glad I'm pulling the trigger finally. I'll keep you posted...
