    The end results is this:

    20180227_135605.jpg

Works with aftermarket head units with the 1/16th inch plug for wired remote or the single wire for remote. I'm running a Pioneer Will it work with 1st gen factory radios? I've heard it can but I have no idea on which ones or how it's wired.

    Part's needed in bold:

    1. Steering wheel that has the big curves on each side of the airbag. This web site has really good deals on new steering wheels. Under$100
    2. Cruise control stalk
    3. Turn signal cancel cam
    4. Audio Switches
    5. Bluetooth phone controls with cable (optional, hard to find used)
Switch part #84244-35030-B0 dark gray $77.04
    Cable part #84204-58010 $30.37
    6. Clock spring. I used this one.
    7. Wire harness inside steering wheel
    8. Wire harness for the column side of clock spring. Airbag and 12 pin plug housing Part #90980–12183 terminal part #82998–12750 x7
    9. Steering wheel control interface
    SWI-RC $85.80
    10. Single wire airbag. This will be the hard part to find.

Some models with correct steering wheel, cruise control stalk, turn signal cancel cam, audio switches, wire harness and Bluetooth phone controls:
    1. Camry 2002-2006
    2. Sequoia 2003-2007
    3. 4Runner 2006-2009
    4. Sienna 2006-2010
    5. Land Cruiser 2004-2007
    6. Tacoma 2005-2011

The only 2 models that use the single connector airbag:
    1. Sequoia 2003-2004
    2. Tundra 2003-2004

The Air bag needs to have this type of plug on the back. Could the inflator off your old airbag be swapped into a two wire airbag. Maybe but do that at your own risk. In no way I'm I suggesting you do that.

Steering wheel needs to look like this inside

Audio controls harness and filler cover if not adding Bluetooth.

Clock spring with single air bag connector and 12 pin harness connector

Cancel cam either one will work. Pops out of combination switch mount (see next pic)

    20180215_113055.jpg
    All the pieces less airbag
    20180226_132943.jpg

Okay that covers all the parts needed. Next the conversion.

To start off with... UNHOOK YOUR BATTERY AND WAIT 5 MINUTES BEFORE ATEMPTING ANY REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION OF ANY AIRBAG!! ALWAYS PLACE AIRBAG WITH WIRE CONNECTIONS DOWN HORN PAD UP AFTER REMOVAL. NEVER EVER USE A VOLT METER TO CHECK CONTINUITY OF ANY PART OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. I can accept no responsibility for any damages that may result from the attempt of this mod. It's not hard to do and can be done. But you except all responsibility for it.

    1. Unhook battery and wait 5 minutes.
    2. Remove airbag and steering wheel (see attached file if you don't know how to) The airbag wire has a lock that must be pulled back before plug will come out.
    Release clip for airbag.jpg
    3. Remove lower dash panel (knee bolster) upper and lower column covers. 3 screws one on the bottom and 2 behind steering wheel.
    4. Unplug spiral cable and remove. The yellow connector has a lock that must be released
5.Remove the cancel cam with 2 screwdrivers under each side (see pic) and spring.
Cancel cam removal.jpg cancel cam spring.jpg
6.Now there's two ways to change cancel cam. Either modify your original or find the correct one in the parts list in first post. To modify your original you most grind\sand the face down and trim the small ear off a little. (see pic).
    Before modification of cancel cam.jpg

Notice the face ring is ground off and the ear is trimmed off the small side.
    After canel cam mod.jpg
    Large ear on cancel cam.jpg
    7. Install cancel cam with spring if you use your original cam. Without spring if you get the correct one.
    8. Install new clock spring (listed in parts list above) If you look at the back of the clock spring there's to spots were the cancel cam ears go into. A small and a large one. Make sure the cancel cam ears click into them.

The two air bags wires will need to be spliced together also. Solder and shrink tubing or use these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ILSEF76/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Those solder and heat shrink all in one. Don't use regular but connectors on them. From what I can tell it doesn't matter with wires you hook together for the air bag. Just use the 2 you cut the plug off of.
After you hook up the radio interface to you head unit.(fallow the instructions that comes with it) and the wires in the column. Next is trimming the lower column cover to fit the clock spring.
    20180214_151505.jpg
Continue putting the steering wheel on with the new audio control switches and air bag.
Program interface controller to recognize the buttons. It can be tricky to do. If you have any questions about programing it, just ask.

Edit: For the older 1st gens that use a 3 wire cruise control switch instead of the 2 wire. You'll need to do this mod to the new switch.

Here's another way to do audio controls and no Bluetooth phone controls. Easier to find air bag for this set up. Shout out to @BartMaster1234 for making me research it.
Use a steering wheel similar this:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/01-04-Lexus-GS300-GS430-Black-Leather-Wood-Original-Steering-Wheel-OEM/272941171016?hash=item3f8c8fc148:g:hS8AAOSwPpZaD6aH&vxp=mtr&rmvSB=true
and a clock spring like this. Notice it has 6 pins in the one plug. Gotta have that.
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-2005-LEXUS-GS300-GS400-GS430-AIR-BAG-CLOCK-SPRING-CLOCKSPRING-OEM/112530885678?_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=2&asc=50073&meid=f6c44004dbfe4067a8682633bde7144f&pid=100005&rk=6&rkt=6&sd=182187969734&itm=112530885678&rmvSB=true
That all will bolt right into our columns. Only thing you'll need is 3 terminal pins for the harness the radio interface and a HU that is capable of remote by hard wire.
    Also the air bag.

Where did you get the wiring pigtail that goes into the body harness after the clockspring?

So if you find a complete steering wheel with airbag and the radio/blue tooth controls and then buy a clock spring this is pretty much a plug and play? minus hooking up to your head unit of course.

There's some wire splicing that has to be done on the column side. Plus you'll need the interface module. Write isn't completely finished. "to be continued" If you go with the second option that @BartMaster1234 pointed out, there's no cutting wires just adding three to the column side plug.

I might have to look into getting a column out of a newer truck to do this. OTOH it probably won't work with the 95-9 7 column

Is it because of the shifter being in the column?
