I'm a fan of the National Geographic 'Adventure' atlas... different countries, or greater detail you gotta look at them 'in person', depends what you're looking for, obviously.

I use them. They are a great resource to have on hand. I have one for Wa, Or, ID, NV, MT, Wy and CO. I like these better than the DeLorme maps I used to use.

I'm looking for a Mapbook that has roads, trails Forrest roads, identifies camping areas that sort thing there's a Canadian company that makes books like this for Canada but they don't do th USA they're ultra detailed I was hoping to find something similar to hammer out some details of my trip the more resources the better I say

DeLorme Gazetteers are the standard way to go. One covers a State and they have others for 'areas' (NYC, Desert Southwest, etc.)

I've always used DeLorme's and liked them. I'm going to give the Benchmark a shot and see what happens. Hard to beat a paper chart...

Franklin Maps outside Philly is an awesome source for paper maps. Their website sux, but they can get anything you want, if you give them a call... they've been around for years. The internets say The Map Shop in NC is good too, but I have no direct experience with them.

Does anyone have experience with the Amazon traction boards? The X-Bull brands.

Over the weekend I was stuck in the snow and I think traction board would have helped. I slid into the side of the mountain and got stuck. 4x4 didn't help. was only able to get one chain on the rear wheel and still wasn't able to get out. So looking at getting a set of the boards.

I have a set of the X-Bull originals. They're okay. the traction 'bumps' are pretty small. I use them all the time for truck leveling for the RTT but I haven't used them for actual traction. Hopefully someone else can chime in, but for a last resort, they were cheap enough that I grabbed em just incase.

That's a nice setup. I was looking at possibly getting the 3rd gen which look almost identical to maxtraxx.

Haven't seen those ones yet. I'm sure they worked out the kinks and made them better.

I will be getting the TREDS recovery boards, I have watched a lot of videos of them. When they stacked two, wrapped a winch strap around them, and buried them in sand and recovered themselves....I was sold.

Any who, so my boss down in Australia bought me a work vehicle today. It's a 1988 fj 62 diesel. Arb bull bar, Iron man suspension all the way around, rear a/c, sunroof, power everything.....now for the kicker.....IT HAS AN ICE MAKER IN THE CENTER CONSOLE.

My 80 has a console heater that makes a fantastic burrito warmer. I have the cold weather package. It even has an engine oil heater and a bunch of other quirky bits the hot weather package vehicles don't have. I just got a package from Oz today with some cruiser parts, they sure have a lot of them! Enjoy your work rig, they tend to grow on ya.

I've used them a few times on cars in the snowy canyons of Utah. For ~80 when I bought em they are hella cheap insurance.
