woah, if you have a brand new frame and the truck is paid for, keep it!!!!

Are you mechanically inclined? If yes, you can do the job for much less than what you have been quoted
If not, well, find another shop because this $6000 quote is bullshit. You can definitely get it for cheaper

btw, repairing it will end up less expensive than a a new truck (no payments and the cost of repairs are going to be lower than the price for a new truck)

Good Point...they might still be good. But, if you're doing lower ball joints etc it's about another 1-2 hours of work to do the bushings. Any poly bushing options are around $30-$40.

Mine were cooked at 220,000...depends on the truck. In fact mine were so bad the truck would pull to the left when you hit the brakes. I put a camera looking down from above the shock tower and you could see it move when you it the breaks.
Here's a link to a short video I made of one side. The other side was actually worse.

Also no squeaking doesn't mean your bushing are still good. Doesn't mean their bad either.

    OME and worth every penny.
Do the work needed and get that 100K. For what this is going to cost you, (not really much) you'll never find another vehicle as dependable for that next bunch of miles. It's stuff you're going to prob. have to do to ANY 2nd hand truck you buy and if you were wanting new, I guess you would have already went and bought.

You can do eeett! And remember it doesn't have to all be done in 1 jab.

Good for you...that's your truck though. The OP should ivestigate his own truck to determine that.

Also, there's a lot of information we don't have. If a mechanic reccommends something at the least it should be looked into further.
Not disregarded because another truck on a forum claims to have no issues with significantly higher miles. Who knows...maybe your truck only sees highway and the OP's has only seen dirt. On the other hand his truck could be fine and the mechanic is full of shit. right?

OP...Did the mechanic elaborate on why you should replace control arms? Were they upper or lower?

That's just it, he probably doesn't.

Mechanics, mostly dealers, will opt to replace the entire control arm because they come with new inner bushings pre-installed. It is a 5 minute job to swap in the new part, as opposed to removing the control arm, pressing out the old bushing, and pressing in new ones.

And since YOU are paying for the part, it's a win-win for them.
