Taser or 9mm. I guess he might have learned something.

Seeing as that kid is from my area, I'm beyond tired of hearing it on every news broadcast. Personally, I thought it was excessive to taser him. Yes, it was really stupid and in the end it's his own fault. However, this happens ALLL the time at Phillies games, and no ones ever been tasered nor harmed anyone in the past.

I thought we cleared this up. The 50 number wasn't from single anything. Some sub-set of 50 MIGHT have been the result of single-stun incidents, but as we've discussed a number of times, 50 was the number of deaths that were attributed to tasers alone (as opposed to tasers + other factors like drugs). And MANY of the taser-related deaths were the result of MULTIPLE shots.

I swear we've (I've) gone through that 5 times already. I know it's not the main point of the argument anymore, but stop promoting the idea that, based on that article, there have been 50 deaths from single-tase incidents.

Yes, I agree. That's why I said "might" and "also questionable."

But it's not even might. It's certainly not. You're still trying to spin the facts of the article in your favor, when they're clearly not.

    FWIW... wasn't me.

Somewhat related... I've gotten more greenies from this thread than any I can remember.

I did skim through, but it seems that most that are against tazing are for tackling the kid instead. How many deaths from violent physical contact vs. tazing?

No one knows the kids agenda but him and he has chosen to break one rule. What makes you think it is the only one he is planning? The officer diffused the situation with the least damaging method at hand. Could've clubbed him with a bat I suppose.

If you don't want tazed, stay off the freakin' field! Kid got what he deserved. Of course, his family will sue the hell out of anyone and everyone and live the life of luxury so I would say they are getting well more than they deserve for doing something stupid!

You read too quickly, my friend... I think most of the posts (and the poll) seem to indicate that most are for tazing, not tackling.

Alright. I give up on the article debate. It's worthless w/o a "total number of people tased" anyway.

I'm going to laugh out loud if this thread gets shut down... not b/c of heated debate, but b/c it ended up discussion rep (which is forbidden!). And yes, you're a whore!

You can't give *** (positive ***) to someone for a discussion post? I had no idea...link/reference to the rule would be appreciated. When can negative *** be/not be given? Or do you mean you can't discuss *** in a discussion? I'm confused.

No no no... discussion of rep is forbidden. There was a LOT of rep-whoring going on a while back and the mods just said no.

Don't worry too much about it... They won't shut this down... and you weren't crossing a line or anything. Just saying.
