Yeah I have been pretty lucky with my last two places and flexibility.

    IT is mostly remote anyway.

That’s stupid. Companies should encourage working remote. They could save so much on overhead costs of not having to pay for offices and shit like that.

Its a mindset shift for management.

Mindset 1 = Your employees are assholes and trying to fuck you over at every turn
Mindset 2 = If the work gets done on time why the fuck do I care if they are in the office or working from home.

Still have to pay electrical, ac, internet, etc. All overhead costs still. Obviously most companies require an office at some point, but they could get a smaller building and what not. A lot of jobs are able to work remote now and do. All contractors we hire all work remote. They come in to the office to get their laptop and VPN token and then that’s it.

I’m not taking solely your company and building, but companies in general. Obviously there’s exceptions everywhere. If it’s cheap as fuck to have the office then why not. But for others where they’re renting the space say downtown LA, and utilities and everything, seems it would be more beneficial to have a smaller space and let employees work remote.

Luckily my start and stop time isn't tracked either so I usually get to the office around 10ish and my commute is just down the 110. It still sucks but at least I don't have the stress of "you must be in the office at X time on the dot"

    Ya true.

I miss my window cubicle in downtown Honolulu during my internship. That was prime.

For my commute 9AM doesn't help. I do miss my 10 min commute of the old job but I don't miss the old job.
