Considering a ledger or trazor wallet to get my money off coinbase. Any input on either would be great. Also to my knowledge they generate X amount of words with or without a pin. IF you put all your coins on that how can you back that up? What if that decides to just not turn on one day?

Both are good. Both generate a set of ’keys’ that are used on said wallet. Those keys can be backed up on any wallet so even if you lose the physical wallet, as long as you have the keys, you can backup those coins.

So the wallet doesn't turn on or I lose it. I have backup keys stored I'm good?

You generate a 25 word "seed" code when you first set them up (least the trezor). If you ever break/lose/damage/it-just-stops-working you order a new one and use that 25 word seed and itll restore your it like its the old one.

You MUST protect that 25 word seed as if someone were to steal it they could then input it onto a trezor and steal your funds that way as well. But that goes for all private keys as well...should be stored in a safe place offline.

As for ledger vs trezor....meh they are both similar. Just compare the coins they support if you need a specific one. But both do the standard Eth/BTC/LTC/ERC-20 tokens.

So I want to share a story so that people can learn from my mistakes. I didn't lose a lot of money but looking back on it, this was easily avoidable
I was holding a small amount of money in a shit coin called PacCoin... It was trading for 1 sat on cryptopia (BTC/PAC trading pair)
Ignorantly I thought it couldn't move in price and I knew a fork was coming which would turn my 1.3mil coins to 1300 and the price would go from 1 sat to 1000 sat... WRONG
Since there is a trading pair for PAC on Cryptopia with DOGE, it was actually trading for way less than a sat.
SO, instead of PAC being worth 1000sats after the fork, it ended up around 130 sats but my 1.3mil coins still turned into 1300

Lesson learned... I wouldn't really trade for anything under 10 sats with BTC in the future. If you think about it, if the actual price is at 9.6 and it's just being rounded up to 10 you're already screwing yourself out of 4% right off the bat.
Also, don't trust the exchanges. Cryptopia should not have been allowing the BTC/PAC trades with PAC being worth less than a sat, but what can ya do!

Snapshot happened around 10 am EST lol but didn’t have to be awake to partake
Where do you see its value? I see etherscan still has it at zero
Darn, Kucoin did. I have grown to like Kucoin over Binance but both are good exchanges imo.

Yikes, ETC didn’t move much after the snapshot. Still holding it and doing better than switching to LTC. Thanks!

Damn straight he has been crashing it. Theres other articles that go more indepth explaining timing of it and everything. The addresses the coins are in are known so people have been watching them. Pretty much whenever bitcoin was "peaking" he would sell off a ton. Wait for it to come back up and then sell off again. he (they?) owed ~50 million (think thats it) to creditors and has sold like 53 million worth. Pretty much every big drop in BTC has had him selling off a large chunk going back to December

They semi shared it initially. Least the "we know who did it and froze their accounts" but its nice of them to come out more publically and share
