I didn’t like the quicksand at first but than a great deal on my truck came up so I pulled the trigger on it. No regrets though it quickly grew on me!

That's so weird some dealers want a VIN. Glad mine didn't.

The parts in bold are not even in the same universe, much less the same ballpark...

When you go to dealership to buy the taillights
Just walk by a Pro and write down the Vin #
    Easy peasy

From my experience there are a lot of dealers out there who live and die by the VIN number being in the catalog. That's only because they don't know how to use the catalog properly and look up production dates for the part numbers, things like that. I worked in a Toyota dealer parts department for 2 years recently and I almost never needed a VIN for headlights/tail lights, other trim pieces, because I knew how to use the Snap On catalog. I moved back to my home town 2 months ago and my local Toyota dealer needed a VIN number just to figure out the freaking wiper inserts. I had to look at the screen and actually tell them which part numbers I needed.

I can understand that. Make sure they order the correct part for the right model/ year vehicle.

I’ve order multiple parts from Toyota dealerships and this was the first time I’ve ever been asked for a vin when I got quoted for a “pro” part
