The crawl is on both off road and pro. And it's not on the Manual trans, you have a-tract. All crawl control is, a cruise control for supper slow speeds.

The pro definitely is a head turner for the people who know what they are looking at, but the off-road model does have the crawl control, and you can build up an off-road to be more capable for less money than a pro. But if cost is not a concern at all then there is no reason not to go with the pro!

    Yeah.
I would agree that if you plan to lift it and upgrade the suspension anyway, building up an Off Road is probably a cheaper option. Heck if you are going to do a front locker, just getting an SR5 might be good enough!

That said, if what the Pro has is good enough for your needs and you can get a good deal, it is actually not a bad value if you do the math. I got mine for $3K under MSRP, no "market adjustment" like some dealers are doing. I would have gone with an Off Road otherwise.

If you are set on a Pro, you could always sell off the Fox suspension and cover some of the cost of whatever you decide to do. I am sure somebody here would buy it from you.

You definitely got quite the deal if you convinced someone to sell you a pro for less than msrp! And I have seen the pro suspension sell for around $1k which is a lot towards a new setup. I mean if you can, there's no real reason not to get the pro haha

    Yeah.
It was about a week before Christmas and I went by to pick up a flange nut -- carrier bearing went out on my 2012, first thing that ever went wrong with it. Saw that blue Pro sitting there, walked out to look at it and ran into the same sales guy we got my wife's 4Runner from. He knew I wanted it so went and grabbed the keys while I got my $2 part. Took it for a quick spin, went home and cleared it with my wife, called him and told him what I wanted for my truck and that I'd pay $3k under MSRP. He didn't laugh, but he said it was not very likely, but never hurts to ask. Called me back 20 minutes later and was clearly as surprised as I was, but said it was a deal, Merry Christmas. Picked it up the next day. That's when he pointed to the identical one they had just pulled off the truck. I don't think they wanted 2 on the lot, makes them not seem so rare. Probably mostly luck, but I was a PITA negotiating for the 4Runner and he probably knew I would walk.

So, wondering how the test drive went today.

I had issues come up today and was going to blow off even going for the test drive and my wife called and said you should go for the test drive so I did.
I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort, style and ride was compared to my 2015 Sport ( no knock on those guys, just a personal opinion). I was so impressed, went to my wife’s work and picked her up for a test drive and she felt the same way.
So at that particular moment and for the rest of the night it was decided we would make the trade. I get home and every time I look outside and see my Cummins I have doubts after getting home.

Bottom line financially keeping the Cummins isn’t an issue other than upkeep. $100 oil change and $200 fuel filters, $2.79 gallon diesel if you are lucky. It’s the fact we bought a 1 ton to pull a very large toy hauler and that purchase can’t happen anymore. That being said the trade is the smartest thing to do monitarily so ai stands right now at 12:30 we ar going tomorrow and make the trade. I am not in any way trying to convey poor me, I am just sharing some personal insight regarding emotions when trading something you worked hard to create. Here are a couple more photos before the flares

    Yeah.
Man, I was emotional trading in my 2012 on my Pro. Raising 2 daughters, I had always made the "practical" decision and gone with 2WD trucks, minimum frills. Luckily they hold their value, and I eventually could upgrade to the TRD Off Road that I always wanted without having a ridiculous car payment. That 2012 was my first 4x4 and I loved it. But, Pro, you know, and it was time for a new truck. I just felt like I was betraying it as I walked away, it was part of the family, one of my best friends. So weird to feel like that about a vehicle. About to have both girls in college, and hopefully retirement not long after that, so back to making practical decisions.

Neither of your choices are bad, which is part of what makes it tough. Practicality would most likely win.

If I was cruising into retirement, I'd want the space, comfort, safety and ride of a full size. The fact that's paid off is just another plus. I love my Tacoma, but it's not the most comfortable thing in the world. And the fuel economy isn't any better than your full size. Keep the Ram.

Well guys, I am still out of town as the dealership was more than 4 hours away. Got there about 5:30 yesterday evening, truck was sitting in the delivery area and looked beautiful. Took it for a test drive whil they were inspecting my truck.
While on the test drive wife and I pulled over because I wanted her to drive (and as fate would have it she unknowingly drops her sunglasses in this empty parking lot) so she gets in and drives it back to the dealership. When she pulls into the dealership my truck is out front so I said pull one spot over so we can have room to open doors and move everything over.
I got out and looked at my Cummins next to the Tacoma and and couldn’t help but stare at my Cummins and wonder if I was doing the right thing when all of a sudden my wife says I can’t find my sunglasses, I must have dropped them in that empty parking lot we pulled into so swap drivers. My first instinct was to jump into my Cummins to go try and find them (Maui Jim’s aren’t cheap). I got to the parking lot and found them and at that moment I texted my wife who was sitting with the guy to finalize the deal two things.....
    I found them......
    Then
    I CAN’T DO IT

So guys the truck was incredible, ran good, exhaust sounded awesome interior was nice stereo sounded good and it looked great but couldn’t go from full size Ram 3500 Longhorn Laramie to the Tacoma.

As always y’all have been a great and on a side note Fred Anderson Toyota in Charleston is a great dealership and was going to sell me the PRO for close to $2k under MSRP
