So for about 6-8 months, I’ve been noticing at around 2500 RPM’s when it shifts from 4-5 gear, the RPM’s will flare about 300 RPM and then shift. Is this common or normal? Should I be concerned?

In the city, the transmission shifts smooth as butter, it’s always on the highway, 4-5 gear it will flare slightly and then shift smoothly.

Give me some hope here, I love this truck lol!

Truck only has about 110,000km and auto. :)

I'm going to go with the normal response of "it's normal"

I will keep an eye on my RPM's for ya on the way home today.

    You manual or auto?

I ve heard a lot about weird shifting 4-5 in the 2nd gen. Mine will shift hard if you let go on gas pedal when it’s about to shift. More noticeable when it’s cold

likely do to simply unlocking of the torque converter for the 4 to 5 shift before it locks up again.

I would check the fluid level. Some reported a qrt low. It’s easy to do plenty of threads on this topic.

So the last week, it seems with the warmer weather that it’s shifting normally even under a heavy foot. I will do a drain and refill in the next few months for reassurance.
